Reminder that in Batman Begins, Christian Bale couldn’t turn his head at all. Every time Batman looked left, he had to rotate his entire torso like a statue. He had also bulked up so fast after The Machinist that he couldn’t fit in the original Batsuit prototype so Christopher Nolan told him to drop 30 lbs.

Christian Bale who normally weighed around 80kg, had to reduce his weight to 54kg for his role in "The Machinist" (2004). He had to increase his weight to play Batman in "Batman Begins" (2005). To increase his weight, He was lifting really heavy weights and just stuffing so much into his mouth. His body was under so much pressure that he could feel it. To fill out his Batman suit, Bale stuffed himself with food and when he was not eating, he was in the gym. His doctor said to him, 'You are going nuts. You have to slow down'." But when he arrived on the set of 'Batman Begins', he was 100kg, well overweight. According to Bale, Nolan had no idea who Bale was when he arrived to the set with his long hair. "When Nolan got close he was like 'Holy f... You look like Grizzly Adams. What's going on?'" Nolan then asked him to get a little leaner. Michael Caine was stunned too, especially after seeing him as a young man in "The Machinist" & "American Psycho". He felt Bale looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Some of the English members in the crew joked, "'Hey Chris, what film are we making here? Fatman?'."
