Christopher Nolan reveals the first time an actor said no to him was David Bowie, and he had to personally beg him to change his mind. Jimmy Fallon: Have you ever gotten a “no”? Christopher Nolan: Have I ever gotten a “no”? Yeah, I have. Jimmy Fallon: Besides me when I said I didn’t want to do Batman. Christopher Nolan: The only “no” I’ll admit to is David Bowie for The Prestige. He was my great idol, and I thought he’d be perfect to play Nikola Tesla.
