Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk won 3 Oscars, including Best Sound Editing & Best Sound Mixing. The reason I mention that is because Dunkirk has always been the film in which Nolan put so much emphasis on sound. The sound here brings you face-to-face with the story. It’s brilliant.

For Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan kept dialogue minimal so sound, image, and tension told the story. This makes the audience a direct witness. He even considered filming without a script before his wife, Emma Thomas, convinced him otherwise.
