Love Ryan Coogler geeking out with Maggie Gyllenhaal over THE DARK KNIGHT. He also reveals he watched the film at 4am in IMAX like a boss. Those of us who remember THE DARK KNIGHT release, it was complete madness getting tickets. I saw it at like midnight at some random theater in Queens because it was all I could get. Even then, I still had to get there 3 hours early since reserved seating wasn’t as standard then as it is now. If you wanted to see the film in IMAX, good luck. You were likely seeing it in the middle of the night. Coogler was just like the rest of us, pulling an all-nighter to experience Nolan’s masterpiece the way the filmmaker intended. Years later Coogler would go on to direct several films in IMAX, including one that made history as the most nominated film ever at the Oscars… SINNERS. We’re all just dorky movie nerds at the end of the day…
