Superman is the most realistic in Zack Snyder’s movies, because he wanted to portray “a real hero.” “Everyone clings to the Christopher Reeve version of Superman.” “I made him real. I wanted to show violence has consequences. It’s not funny.” “I wanted Superman to reflect the world we live in.”

Henry Cavill turned down steroids and refused to shave his chest for Man of Steel. He trained naturally, saying shortcuts would be “dishonest” to the character. He even showed producers the Death of Superman comics to prove Superman had chest hair.

I know this movie takes place in 1932, while the character debuted in 1938, but I still appreciate this Superman reference in Everyone's Hero. The filmmakers added it out of respect for Christopher Reeve, who directed the film until he died midway through production.

Henry Cavill once thought Clark Kent’s glasses disguise wasn’t convincing enough to be realistic. And he tried to test it. Nobody realized who he was. “I wore a Superman t-shirt and no glasses, and stood underneath the giant wraparound Batman v Superman posters in Times Square.” People thought he was just a fan. “I got stopped twice. Once by someone exiting the subway asking for directions to Central Station.” “And the other time was in a coffee shop where someone said, ‘Could you please stop taking photos?’”

The man she was about to scold turned out to be someone she missed deeply.🥹 Would you react the same way in this moment?

In Man of Steel, Superman’s father’s death plays out very differently from earlier versions. Traditionally, he dies of a heart attack — something Superman can’t prevent. Zack Snyder made it more tragic: Clark has the power but can’t save him. David S. Goyer defended the choice, saying, “Clark was only 17…”

Written after he realized he couldn’t remember what his wife was wearing the first night they met. He noticed her that night, and turned the moment into one of the most recognizable love songs of the ’80s. Everyone know this one, right?
