I have been a Democrat my entire life. I live in Los Angeles. I was an actress for years. I voted for Obama, then Clinton. I couldn’t wait to vote against the ban on gay marriage. I supported Planned Parenthood. I called JK Rowling “TERF.” I read books like THE NEW JIM CROW in an attempt to “educate” myself. I was a Democrat through-and-through, and more than that—I was even onboard with wokeism, with equity (as opposed to equality), with intersectional feminism, etc. These people had me pretty much hook, line, and sinker. Then in Summer 2020 I was encouraged to go out and engage in “firey but mostly peaceful protests” but was told it was still unsafe for me to go to work. That didn’t make sense. Nothing around me made any sense whatsoever. And I really needed to go back to work. Whenever I brought this up, I was told I was being selfish or even “racist.” Indeed, whenever I saw talk—whether online or on corporate news—of those who took issue with lockdowns, it was always framed as an issue of selfishness, even of racism. For some reason, liberal folks had this idea that anyone remotely concerned over lockdowns was a wealthy white woman who was just bored and wanted to get her hair and nails done. I felt like screaming at everyone, “who do you think does hair and nails?” Hairdressers and nail artists, whose jobs are ESSENTIAL TO THEM. Everyone is an “essential worker” to himself and the people who may depend upon him. What bothered me the most wasn’t that these people disagreed with me, or that they had different ideas on how best to handle covid or BLM unrest—what bothered me the most was that they absolutely refused to recognize I might have any honest reasons for disagreeing with them. And I had honest reasons for disagreeing with them. I and MANY others were being harmed by the tyrannical, overreaching, nonsensical response to covid—especially in blue cities and states. That felt like a punch to the gut, from the people I’d supported and aligned with all my life. So I walked away from the Democrat party. They’ve proven me correct every damn day since then. #walkaway

Prototyping used to scare me. So I tried to escape it. I remember when I first started designing in Figma, prototyping felt like a mountain I didn’t want to climb. It was that one thing most designers quietly avoided some even said it’s not necessary 😄. I searched for shortcuts. Tried ProtoPie. Looked into Principle. Hoped one of them would save me the trouble. But they all felt disconnected. Too complex. Or just not Figma. So I made a decision: If I’m designing in Figma, I’m prototyping in Figma too. That meant doing everything, product planning, ideation, low-fi, high-fi, and interaction flows all in one tool. No more bouncing around. No more excuses. The first nut to crack? A loading effect. It took me 4 days to figure out. I searched everywhere, YouTube had nothing at the time. But I cracked it just one morning I saw myself trying it out in my dream. Woke up immediately and it was 4am, tried it and it worked. And that changed everything. Prototyping became the one language I could use to explain my designs… without explaining. Today, every prototype I create lives and breathes in Figma. Most of them can either be creative exploration or me trying to fix a broken user experience. No exports. No guesswork. Just clean, clickable experiences. It wasn’t easy. But I’m glad I stopped running from it. Because I would’ve missed out on one skill that: ✅ Earned my first £95K within 7 months while in UK. ✅ Got Uber to reach out to speak about interactive design. ✅ Worked with so many client even from Pakistan. ✅ Watched by more than 1 million people in the first 6 months I started sharing interactive designs. ✅ Prototyping landed me a 9-month contract just 3 days after getting laid off last year. ✅ Funny how the skill I once ran from helped me grow from 500 to 50,000 followers in 7 months. Prototyping gave my work a voice. #prototyping #figmaexperience #productdesign

WARNING | Strong language in the video attached. I’ve been alerted to a video I’m mentioned in, which refers to trespassing. Here’s what went down. We were on a story about eThekwini town-planning issues. The property seen in the video has been at the centre of litigation over the validity of its plans. On Friday, judgment was handed down in the case and the court ordered that the plans in its current form be set aside. While capturing exterior visuals of the house under construction (for reference), my colleague was confronted by the owners who claimed he was trespassing. I was across the road in our vehicle, on a call, at the time. I went over to the entrance of the property where the commotion was taking place, and by now my colleague was being prevented from leaving by the aggressive owner and his family/security. The owner then grabbed the camera and tripod, threatened to smash it, and eventually placed it several metres away - further into the property. The memory card was wiped and then confiscated (read stolen). We provided our names and where we work and told the man to pursue the matter via our company if there was an issue or he felt aggrieved. He refused. Instead my colleague was held against his will, surrounded by several people who were armed. At some point, he tried to intimidate me and charged at me, swearing, when he was stopped by a relative (video attached). He then called the Metro Police and so began a four hour ordeal. At its peak, at least 12 police officers in three vehicles responded to the “trespassing” incident - even putting off other complaints elsewhere because they were still busy. Eventually, my colleague and the equipment were piled into a police car and taken to Berea SAPS. After an hour or so, the station commander - who was summoned to assist - decided there was insufficient evidence for my colleague to be arrested, as demanded by the family, and he was released. One of the officers, who was privy to the internal conversations, remarked to me on the sidelines how “people with money think they have their own law.” Considering that there are elements of kidnapping, intimidation and theft at play, we will also be exploring the best way forward after consultation with our legal team.

Terrified Chicago restaurant owner pleads for help after string of senseless attacks on staff at burger joint | Sonya Gugliara, Daily Mail The owner of a Chicago burger joint has begged for the liberal city's help after mobs of teens wreaked havoc on the restaurant and senselessly attacked one of her employees. After a lot of thought and consideration, reflecting on yesterday's email from the Colorado Republican Party with the subject line "God Hates Pride", I can not accept their endorsement. Here's my full statement: Yesterday the Colorado State GOP sent out an email with the subject line “God Hates Pride”. I have been an avid critic of where the celebration of Pride has gone in recent years and firm supporter of protecting children from environments and entertainments that are of an adult nature. However, this email went too far and was just hateful. I personally found it very troubling. I spoke with many LGBT and non LGBT Republicans yesterday who also found the message in the email disgusting and offensive.This email does NOT Represent the Republican voters of Colorado. I know the Republicans in our State and in our city. They’re kind, accepting, loving, and welcoming people. They’ve become some of my best friends. They love this country, they love this state, they love our city, and they love their neighbors. They want solutions to the problems facing our communities that the people are most concerned with. I believe working with the Republican Party affords me the greatest chance of getting results for these issues. Primarily the high cost of living and the economy. Many young people in Denver feel they will never be able to afford the American dream. However, the Republican Party, like all political parties, is not perfect. And I believe it’s important to have the integrity to call out your party when you see them make a mistake. On Sunday, June 2nd, the State GOP released it’s full list of endorsements for this months State Primary. After giving it a lot of thought, reflecting on the email released yesterday, I can not accept the endorsement from the Colorado State GOP. I sent them an email asking to be removed from their list of endorsees. This does not mean I won’t work with the State Party. I want them to succeed and I want them to do better. I’m not one to abandon ship when times get hard. I will also support our great GOP Candidates from the top of the ticket down. Moving forward unity is important. We need to work for the betterment of our country. After a lot of thought and consideration, reflecting on yesterday's email from the Colorado Republican Party with the subject line "God Hates Pride", I can not accept their endorsement. Here's my full statement: Yesterday the Colorado State GOP sent out an email with the subject line “God Hates Pride”. I have been an avid critic of where the celebration of Pride has gone in recent years and firm supporter of protecting children from environments and entertainments that are of an adult nature. However, this email went too far and was just hateful. I personally found it very troubling. I spoke with many LGBT and non LGBT Republicans yesterday who also found the message in the email disgusting and offensive.This email does NOT Represent the Republican voters of Colorado. I know the Republicans in our State and in our city. They’re kind, accepting, loving, and welcoming people. They’ve become some of my best friends. They love this country, they love this state, they love our city, and they love their neighbors. They want solutions to the problems facing our communities that the people are most concerned with. I believe working with the Republican Party affords me the greatest chance of getting results for these issues. Primarily the high cost of living and the economy. Many young people in Denver feel they will never be able to afford the American dream. However, the Republican Party, like all political parties, is not perfect. And I believe it’s important to have the integrity to call out your party when you see them make a mistake. On Sunday, June 2nd, the State GOP released it’s full list of endorsements for this months State Primary. After giving it a lot of thought, reflecting on the email released yesterday, I can not accept the endorsement from the Colorado State GOP. I sent them an email asking to be removed from their list of endorsees. This does not mean I won’t work with the State Party. I want them to succeed and I want them to do better. I’m not one to abandon ship when times get hard. I will also support our great GOP Candidates from the top of the ticket down. Moving forward unity is important. We need to work for the betterment of our country. As Peter Thiel said, to a standing ovation, in his address to the 2016 Republican National Convention, “I am proud to be gay, I am proud to be a Republican, but most of all I am proud to be an American”. Before that, they filmed videos showing that a person is supposedly being released — so that relatives won’t look for them and so they can absolve themselves of responsibility. There are many such videos online. After I was freed, I collected them — about myself and about everyone who had been in the camp with us. In the video, at a checkpoint in Vasylivka, they read out a “sentence” saying that by decision of the head of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Yevgeny Balytskyi, you are being expelled beyond the borders of Zaporizhzhia Oblast and will never return to Russia. They supposedly hand over your documents, and the person walks away. A RIA Novosti journalist, Rostislav Zhuravlyov, who was there on January 18, comments in the video: “You see, we’re letting them go to Ukrainian territory, and how they’re received there — we don’t know.” So they show that people were released — but the people never arrived. And relatives think: so they must have been killed somewhere along the way. But us — they put us in the trunk of a car and took us to labor camps. Two other men and I were handed over to the commander of a Russian military unit in Krasnodar Krai. We all slept on the floor in an abandoned shed, packed together — men and women. The guards were military, armed with rifles. Wake-up was at five. At 5:30 the guards arrived. And so it went on all day — sometimes until eight or nine in the evening; once I remember it went on until two in the morning, and once even until six in the morning. For a thousand years, when nobody was coming to help the British people, the British people helped each other. 🇬🇧 That has always been our answer. Long before any state asked it of us.
