A year ago, August 20th, Charlie was at Wrigley Field in Chicago cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Cubs, and supporting his friend Matt Shaw. It was a dream of his to walk on that field, take in the history of one of Americas most iconic ballparks, and experience it all as a lifelong Cubs fan. He was so happy. I think about this day a lot and go back to it in my mind all the time.

Rex was found living on his own in the hills outside Chico, California after the wildfires tore through that area in the fall of 2022. He came into an Animal Rescue badly underweight, with scars across his back, and so frightened that volunteers could barely get close. For almost two years he lived in the shelter, improving slowly but still flinching at sudden movements. The Chen family had been searching for their Australian Shepherd since the evacuation. Their ten-year-old son, Liam, never stopped believing they'd find him. He carried Rex's old stuffed duck toy in his backpack every single day. When the family finally got a match through a lost pet database and came to the shelter, Rex backed straight into the corner. Liam sat down on the floor without rushing and pulled that worn, faded duck out of his bag. Rex's whole body changed. His ears came up. His nose started working. He crept forward one step at a time until he was close enough to sniff the toy - and then he was on top of Liam, covering his face with kisses while Liam laughed and cried at the same time. King Hezekiah's solution: carve a 533 meter tunnel through solid limestone bedrock, diverting the spring's water to the Pool of Siloam inside the city. The residents would drink. The besiegers outside would find nothing. 2,700 years later, water still flows through it. And you can still walk it today, waist-deep, in the dark.

The Curiosity rover broke free from the "captivity" it had found itself in just a few days earlier – on April 25th, after drilling into a rock, it literally "stuck" to the drill bit and refused to release. Instead of breaking apart during the drilling, the rock was pulled out of the surface in one piece and remained hanging on the drill bit as the robotic arm began to lift. And it wasn't just a small fragment. NASA estimates the rock was about half a meter wide, about 15 cm thick, and weighed about 13 kg. A few days later, they repositioned the robotic arm and turned on the vibration again. Sand fell off the rock, but it remained attached. Few things sum up Biden’s foreign policy better than him saying that he has no concerns about Hamas regrouping, juxtaposed with the footage on the right from just a few days later of Hamas grouped. It makes you think of the famous Bob Gates quote that Biden has been on the wrong side of many foreign policy issues in the past four decades. He voted against Desert Storm but voted for the Iraq war. He was against the Bin Laden operation. He said he was going to make MBS a pariah and then showed up in his court with a fist bump.
