So the US government and Maduro’s VP (and defense minister) made a deal prior to the regime change, and now are playing the political theater for legitimacy. They already knew that they will lead the country and waited. So the way it works, Venezuela’s government now, to not show that they were in on it, need to condemn USA and play a bit tough, then after a bit agree to work together. Thats what Delcy Rodriguez government tries. They already knew that they will lead the country and waited. So the way it works, Venezuela’s government now, to not show that they were in on it, need to condemn USA and play a bit tough, then after a bit agree to work together. Thats what Delcy Rodriguez government tries. But Trump breaks the political show constantly by saying “we run Venezuela” and “we’re in charge” here too, he just ignores it as he knows they’re his vassals now.

So there was no collapse of the regime, and Trump made this very clear when he said that they made the choice not to go in and take everybody out the way they did in Iraq, because that would have led to state collapse. This, in a way, is an admission of US policy that regime change in Venezuela has failed for two decades now, & basically the removal of Maduro in many ways was more about saving face and giving the appearance that Trump had succeeded in achieving his goal of regime change."
