Chamath: AI advantage may come less from models than from private inputs. "When labs can build similar models, the real win comes from one unique ingredient in order to monetize it well. Here is a basic thing about machine learning that is worth knowing: if you take 1,000 of the same inputs and give them to Facebook, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, they will all come up with the same machine learning model. But if you have one extra thing, one little ingredient that all of those other companies do not have, your output can be markedly different. It is like giving two great chefs three ingredients, but giving the third chef one extra ingredient. That person has the ability to do something very special. Right now, we are in a world where everybody is crawling the open web. We are going to move to a world where, as everybody gets sophisticated enough and information is widely available, somebody is going to say, “You know what? This site, I am not going to allow anybody else to access. It is only for me, only for my models.” Those models will become better. So we have to let that play out a little bit. It is going to be a really interesting arms race. The next wave of M&A, for example, could be companies like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook looking at these companies and saying, “Can they be viable inputs to my large language models or to my other machine learning and AI models?” --- A company with unique workflows, transactions, medical records, industrial logs, legal archives, design files, or user behavior can turn boring private data into a compounding advantage. Some startups may never become great public companies on their own, yet still become valuable because they own a data stream that makes a larger AI system sharper, more differentiated, or harder to copy. That turns acquisition strategy upside down: the buyer may not be purchasing revenue, brand, or even software, but a private ingredient for intelligence. ---- From "iConnections" YouTube channel, (link in comment)

🚨 JUST IN: MICROSOFT just open sourced a VOICE AI THAT TRANSCRIBES 60 MINUTES OF AUDIO in a single pass. 100% FREE. It knows who spoke. It knows when they spoke. It knows exactly what they said. All in one shot. No chunking. No context loss. It's called VibeVoice. Not a transcription tool. Not a basic speech to text wrapper. A frontier voice AI family with ASR, TTS, and real time streaming. All open source. All free. Here's what it actually does 👇 VibeVoice ASR - Speech Recognition: → Processes 60 minutes of continuous audio in a single pass → Never slices audio into chunks so global context is never lost → Identifies WHO spoke, WHEN they spoke and WHAT they said simultaneously → Supports customized hotwords for domain specific accuracy → Works in 50+ languages natively → Already adopted by Hugging Face Transformers library → Already being built on by the open source community BY PEOPLE WHO HAD NO IDEA THIS LEVEL OF ACCURACY WAS ALREADY FREE. VibeVoice TTS - Text to Speech: → Generates up to 90 minutes of speech in a single pass → Supports up to 4 distinct speakers in one conversation → Natural turn taking and speaker consistency throughout → Expressive speech that captures emotional nuances → Supports English, Chinese and multiple other languages VibeVoice Realtime - Streaming TTS: → Only 300 millisecond first audible latency → Streams text input in real time → 0.5B parameters so it actually deploys anywhere → Robust long form generation up to 10 minutes → Lightweight enough for production use today The core innovation nobody is talking about: Most voice AI models slice long audio into short chunks. Every time they slice, they lose context. Speaker tracking breaks. Semantic coherence breaks. Accuracy drops. VibeVoice uses continuous speech tokenizers running at an ultra low frame rate of 7.5 Hz. This preserves audio fidelity while dramatically boosting computational efficiency. The entire 60 minutes stays in context. Nothing gets lost. Nobody gets misidentified. The numbers: → VibeVoice ASR 7B - available now on Hugging Face → VibeVoice Realtime 0.5B - try it on Colab right now → 50+ supported languages → 11 distinct English voice styles → 9 multilingual speaker voices → Already integrated into Hugging Face Transformers → Finetuning code now available The wildest part? A voice powered input method called Vibing just built itself on top of VibeVoice ASR. Available on macOS and Windows right now. The open source community is already shipping products on top of this. 100% Open Source. Free to use. Free to fine tune. Free to build on. 🔖 Save this before your competitors find it first. 👇

Remember when AI couldn't draw a hand? Seven fingers, knuckles pointing backwards. And the AI spaghetti videos. That was three years ago. Images are done now. Video is close enough that you scrolled past AI ads this week and clocked exactly zero of them. Code writes itself and there are like 40 coding agents. AI voice spent that entire stretch sounding like the lady voice in a 2014 GPS. Flat, evenly spaced and every sentence landing with the same weight, like it's reading from a phone book. Here's why it stayed broken. Bad images are funny. You screenshot the seven fingers, it goes viral for being bad, someone fixes it. Bad audio is just boring. It doesn't fail spectacularly, so it never got that pressure. The bigger problem was the scoring. The whole industry graded AI voices on whether you could make out the words. So the models learned to over pronounce everything, hitting every syllable like a newsreader. Perfectly clear but robotic. Everyone was chasing a score that had nothing to do with sounding human. Meanwhile a small open-source team was doing something harder. Their lead researcher, an ex-NVIDIA engineer, went all in on an approach the rest of the field had written off. Two years early. No funding announcements or launch tour. He just put the whole thing on GitHub for free. It's sitting at 50,000+ stars now. Then they ran the test everyone else avoided. For 10 days they piped real users through their model and every big competitor with the listener never told which was which. Thousands of real people, real scripts. Whichever voice you actually preferred, they logged it. Theirs came out on top. It beat ElevenLabs about 6 times out of 10, head to head. It beat OpenAI's voice model 8 times out of 10. The gap was widest on the breathing, the pauses, the little hesitations, which is exactly the stuff that makes a voice sound like a person instead of a machine reading. They ran on real users rather than a lab, which is more than most of these claims can say. That's Fish Audio. This week they shipped S2.1 Pro: - Clone anyone's voice from 15 seconds of audio - Fast enough to hold a live conversation - 83 languages, one model - Type [whisper] or [sigh] mid-sentence and it does it - Around 70% cheaper than ElevenLabs - Free to download and run yourself Voice was the last thing on the list. Around 20 people with a free repo got there before other billion dollar companies did.

Between the two of them, who's more introverted? 🦊: Actually, it's me. See? They know. 🐰: They're saying neither. 🦊: Neither?? 🐰: They're saying the ANYs are. 🎤: Is that true? 🦊: Depends on the situation. 🐰: Right now they must be tired. They must be like me, only hyper sometimes. 🦊: Hyper only sometimes. 🐰: Hyper only sometimes. * Context: or for more general reference, pls see section 7.1 'Stupid Cupid' ( ** Bonnie had answered the previous question with "sour":

Introducing the new Box Agent. The Box Agent works across your entire Box file system, maintaining all your security and access controls, and is hyper tuned for working with enterprise content. This means you can now ask questions from all your enterprise content, search for files that were impossible to find before, deploy an agent on specific tasks on subsets of documents, analyze complex data sets, and generate or edit documents and spreadsheets via the agent. You can have the Box Agent search across your Box account to prepare for a sales meeting, analyze customer sentiment reports, process a large set of contracts for legal risk, provide insights into product development, leverage existing knowledge to answer RFPs, and thousands of other use-cases. 90% of enterprise data is unstructured data. This means most enterprise knowledge is sitting in inside of research reports, marketing assets, presentations, roadmap files, contracts, HR documents, and more. This is the critical context that agents need to be able to answer questions about a business, automate workflows, or serve up to other agents. We’ve been grinding on this for a quite a bit, and due to recent AI model advancements we’re now ready to release it to customers. Previous model generations had a difficult time knowing when to give up or keep going on a search, when to browse for files vs. use queries, how to rank files appropriately to know which version of content to use, how to handle large amounts of context to comb through, and more. Due to recent breakthroughs from models like GPT-5.4, Opus 4.6, and Gemini 3, we’ve seen major gains in tool calling, code execution, advanced reasoning, and more. Combined with an agent harness tuned to Box context, now it’s finally possible to have an agent that can work across your file system on long running tasks and actually deliver high quality results. Best of all, because the Box Agent works with any leading AI model, you’ll quickly get the gains coming out of the major labs as major new models are released. Further, openness at Box is key, so you’ll be able to call up the Box Agent from Box’s APIs and MCP server, so you can interact with Box intelligently from any other AI system. We know work happens everywhere, and we want to ensure you can access to the content you need from those places. The new Box Agent is available starting today, rolling out now for Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced customers.

Be so good they can't ignore you! I had an investor last year ask me (or rather tell me) - "you can't really think AvatarOS can compete with Epic Games and Metahuman on digital humans". (Never mind that I wasn't proposing to compete with Epic) Imagine what that investor is thinking now with the release of #sora and the avalanche of other AI video generation models... First, lets give this investor a break. I'm sure my pseudo pitch was just a complete trainwreck. But, second, let's take this comment at face value for a second. 1. Yes, I absolutely do. 2. One of the great things about tech and VC is the ability to play positive sum games. These things are best built as multipliers of other great technology. Metahuman walked so we could run! 3. What do you think people told Tim Sweeney when he was building Epic Games??? 4. Is the contention that all cool stuff has already been built, or is so complex that only OpenAI or Epic Games etc. are allowed to build it? 5. The very nature of big companies and their inherent incentive structures give startups and small focused teams an immense advantage, especially when it comes to new technology and especially during large disruptions. Find the future that you want to see, then build it, and make it so awesome others can't help but see it too. Here's a small peak behind the curtain - some progress towards procedurally analyzing, training, and generating authentic human avatars and authentic human motion that is three-dimensional, interactive, and interoperable, while maintaining the subtle nuance that makes individuals unique. Shout out to for the voice training. A lot of cool stuff coming up - check us out at and subscribe to receive updates! I'll be at #GDC and #GTC later this month, reach out!
