Its about maximum profits/efficiency. In return everything is soulless.

would you like to pay full price for modern craftsman to make you a bespoke door or would you like to continue complaining?

Same goes for cars. Most cars from the '40s-'60s had style. Most cars since then, meh.

Thanks for the honesty about this one Lots of "historical" accounts like to pretend the old cities were pristine, when they were often covered in advertising clutter The only change here are the aesthetic styles

you confuse a deliberate brutalization of aesthetics with lack of aesthetics. there was never non-artistic style in the modern industrialization period. the one on the right is artistic as well, just in a very wrong and misantrophic way.

It's because today everything is shaped by capitalism. What matter most to companies is to maximize revenue, reduce to a minimum expenditures and operational/maintenance expenses.

There is no lack of craftsmanship. The ugliness around us IS by design. Beautiful things bring smile and make people happy and happy people create happy societies. Look at our society, does it look happy?

I am amazed that the housing projects had to be torn down only half a century of them being up. yet, many buildings have stood on this earth since the Medeival times. Amazing.

It's because it's cheaper... in every room possible I put thasos marble. It's only 15 times more expensive than ceramic 😂 then you proceed to go through life forgetting it's even there because you get used to it . I think the problem is stopping to see where the beauty lies
