Civilian stringers have broken through the FDNY cordon and are filming in the World Trade Center Plaza, despite great danger to their lives. Meanwhile, Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman to Me” plays eerily over the speaker.

I was part of the team that found these songs. He exited the plaza at 9:44, but Jack started filming at 9:25

The eeriest audio I’ve ever heard in my life

this clip has always given me goosebumps man

That’s - without a doubt - the most depressing video I’ve seen in my entire life. The music is so eerie. Then the crash of the bodies. Man that’s tough.

Completely surreal. This feels like something out of a liminal space. Like an end of one era and the beginning of another.

I can't listen to this song anymore because of this video. It brings melancholy.

This might be the most haunting video I’ve watched today

Don't worry, the fire is inside the building. Nothing is going to fall outside.

alright I’m getting PTSD, let’s call it

It’s like a funeral dirge to America as we knew it.

So eerily dystopian

That music... Man. That's rough.

Amazing film. Wow. Also, it’s amazing that Billy Joel knew what a woman was back then.

One of the creepiest videos i’ve seen

okay this one is really eerie

I wasn’t alive for this and most footage is new to me. This one made me sick to my stomach

How eerie indeed! What a stupid risk to take, what if the towers collapsed. They aren’t designed to sustain such forces, especially as the flights were loaded with fuel!

So dies the old world...

This was 100% intentional. I literally live in upstate New York, near Albany. What's going to happen to us?

Haunting footage...

This clip always makes me wonder if we’ll ever find “LOL Superman”

the fact that those bangs and popping sounds are bodies hitting pavement, absolutely gut wrenching

for what purpose and why does this music play?

Wow was that a piece of one of the planes?

This looks like a cold open in a breaking bad episode

I would strongly advise no one to be there in case the towers collapse or partially collapse.

This clip has always been one of the most emotional to me, the beauty of human creation, of art, music, and architecture, all under attack. Things were supposed to be fine, and the music keeps playing like everything is fine, while death and suffering surrounds us.

Genuinely the most haunting yet powerful footage of 9/11

Reminds me of the men playing music while the titanic was sinking

My first instinct would be to run away as far as possible, but it's thanks to people like them that we have evidence of what happened.

What is a "stringer"?

The sounds of bodies hitting the floor makes this so much creepier

Might be the most haunting 9/11 video ever

My friend has been telling people to get out of the area close by the towers for the past 15 minutes. Advise everybody to do what he’s telling you. I hope he knows what he’s doing and he’s OK. Everyone else GET OUT if you can, THE AREA IS NOT SAFE. If you can’t leave stay put and help will assist you, follow whatever orders you get

I met a woman who works in the sex trade. She lives in Seattle but came to Portland for work. She told me she’s been here for two weeks and feels it’s much safer in Seattle and that the men in Portland are sketchier and more dangerous.
