The SC has said that if there is an illegal demolition, there will be personal liability of the official, and they will restitute that property from their own money. When Shamima Muslim suggested that anyone who disagrees with President Mahama's decision to assess the flood situation by helicopter should "go and swim in the floodwaters," I politely reminded her that, given her experience in journalism and government, such a remark falls short of the democratic values we should uphold and that in a constitutional democracy, citizens and the opposition have every right to question government decisions without being insulted.
