When Shamima Muslim suggested that anyone who disagrees with President Mahama's decision to assess the flood situation by helicopter should "go and swim in the floodwaters," I politely reminded her that, given her experience in journalism and government, such a remark falls short of the democratic values we should uphold and that in a constitutional democracy, citizens and the opposition have every right to question government decisions without being insulted.
