Why the obsession with Burundians? 🤔 What exactly did the Burundian government refuse to sign that has suddenly made its citizens the target? We know this kind of political game. When the deal doesn't go your way, suddenly mambo inakua matatu. 😂 Don't turn ordinary Burundians trying to earn a living into political pawns. EAC unity should be protected, not sacrificed over political disagreements. 🇰🇪🤝🏾

Yes, you're protecting small traders. But Boniface Mwangi Kariuki was a small trader when the police shot him. The KRA taxes on containers were affecting small traders. So the only way to protect small traders is through xenophobia, or what?

Cut the long story haphazardly coined. Why is your emphasis on BURUNDIANS in particular? What about Somalis, Tz Maasai, and the rest?

This mental gymnastics 🤸‍♂️ is characteristic of this regime. Burundians were hawking chai rangi and peanuts through estates. There is no kenyan who used to walk around estates at night selling mandazi moto na chai to askaris at the gate. Even if they were, they must have been doing a bad job such that these French speakers dislodged them so easily. Burundi is part of East Africa. The region has free movement of labor, goods and services in place. So why are getting threatened by a small poor country?

Leviticus 19:34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself... Does that fake Christian in State House know what the Bible says about immigrants? Muuaji.

The statements leading to this were reckless needless to say. There were other better ways of making the declaration that would have been much more peaceful rather than creating the tension that's already building up. We can do better as a country.

It’s important that you guys find a way to reduce the global embarrassment that you’ve consistently been deploying upon Kenyans. It is not our job as citizens to fix foreign policy blunders.

Painful symbol of betrayal. A government of people's betrayers, where promises became lies and hope became heartbreak. A government of anarchy of silencing dissent, and of displaying the dangerous instincts of dictatorship. A system where corruption flourish, where the powerful are protected and the powerless are left to slaughtered. Dictatorial minds. People's betrayers. Architects of anarchy. Guardians of corruption. Enemies of accountability. And no amount of propaganda, roadside speeches, public relations or carefully staged performances can permanently bury the truth.

The problem is the manner in which the Head of state issued apolitical statement that has already triggered unnecessary unimaginable animosity and agitation and harassment of innocent victims who have already been robbed beaten and injured by hooligans as we are seeing on Media. Tye clarification is simply evident that the statement shouldn't have been said in such political forum. The world has completely changed and we are in sensitive times. This should have been avoided. Besides the law is not yet in place. What's the panic about?

Fuck off a whole president goes out ranting like a class two prefect and as a result people are harmed when we have the right organs for this. That's why we say the constitution should be used and in the right way. You have a resp to protect Kenyan economic interest & foreigners.

1/ Mbona unatetemeka sasa? The backlash is not the problem. The problem is reckless policymaking. You technocrats are misadvising the President — and the President must also interrogate what is put before him before such sweeping pronouncements are made. 2/ Why didn’t you “regularise” BEFORE issuing a statement that caused panic and havoc? You cannot announce first, think later, then scramble to explain what you supposedly meant. This is GOVERNMENT, not a trial-and-error project. Words have consequences. 3/ Have we forgotten that Kenya is a HOST COUNTRY to refugees? Have we forgotten our regional commitments on integration, movement and trade? What message are we sending when Government casually announces that foreigners should be pushed out of entire categories of business? 4/ And before we cheer, perhaps we should ask: what happens to KENYANS trading and working in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and elsewhere if those governments adopt the same logic? Foreign policy and regional integration require reciprocity. Reckless pronouncements can have consequences beyond our borders. 5/ Protect Kenyan traders — absolutely. Enforce immigration, licensing, tax and labour laws — absolutely. But enforce THE LAW against those operating illegally. Don’t create sweeping nationality-based exclusions and then call them “regularisation”. 6/ Kenya has spent decades positioning itself as a regional economic, diplomatic and humanitarian hub. That reputation should not be jeopardised by careless, populist pronouncements that can easily acquire xenophobic undertones. Policy must be lawful, considered and coherent. 7/ The President’s advisers must do better. And ultimately, the President must demand better advice and interrogate it before speaking. You cannot govern by pronouncement today, clarification tomorrow and “regularisation” the day after!

These Burundians have lived with us for so many years in a very brotherly manner. I don't know what bad thing they did to Ruto which made him order them to leave. Kenya is home to so many Africans, let Ruto not spoil for us. He must go!

This is a revenge. Burundian Army in DRC is killing Kenyan army and M23/Rwandan troops who are looting coltan from DRC on behalf of Ruto and Kagame. As simple as that.
