Clarkey had a few things to say on McSweeney being dropped 🔥 Full chat here:

Does McSweeney get no credit for batting through the Day1 twilight session in Adelaide? Sure, not a lot of runs (39), but faced 36 overs before Smith and Head had to face anything. That is the role of an opener.

We're sorry for ghosting you 👻🍂

Not a huge Clarkey fan but he's spot on here.

The irony is we are in this position because we kept Warner on for too long instead of giving a new opener the WI series. No forward thinking from this group

Don’t forget Mitch Marsh your allrounder who can’t bowl & averages 13 with the bat this series ! Bring on the Ashes. The Aussies are in disarray 🤣

Bang on, Pup! Make him chairman of selectors.

They drop the only batsman playing out of position and the youngest, too. George Bailey should resign. His friendship and closeness with senior players makes his position untenable. The coach should resign immediately. He obviously is out of touch.

Just remember they did this to Travis Head too in 2020 after the Boxing Day test. And they had him opening also (he’s not an opener). They dropped Alex Carey after the first World Cup game last year after one bad game and was forced to stay over there for the rest of the World Cup series “just in case”. It’s been made very obvious that as long as you are from SA or play for SA rather, your spot is never safe. We all know if they were NSW boys he would still be on there. These young ones are gonna come in when these others retire in the next 1-2 years and have no partnership routines or relationships. They will be playing like strangers out there and that’s a scary thought.

the "future planning" has been an issue for some time now. The "Warner farewell tour" should never have happened & Smith opening was no good idea. They really need to start doing it at that time & are still paying for that now & into the future, incl "The Ashes" next summer.

@MClarke23 absolutely right. When McSweeney was picked I said he should play the series. The bloke has protected every other option by playing 3 tests Two at grounds good for Bumrah then Adelaide & a pink ball. I hope Sam gets runs but Nathan was thrown under the bus @tabcomau

Have to agree. Deserved the series. If anyone needs dropping its marnus for me
