For the first time in 80 years of the UN's history, a Security Council session was convened at Poland's request to discuss the recent incursion into the Polish airspace by Russian aircraft. Poland was represented by Secretary of State at the Foreign Ministry Marcin Bosacki who spoke at the session. “I also want to thank representatives of many Security Council members for your words, but also actions of support and solidarity with Poland. Allow me to start with a quote: "The merchants of death are unbothered by the fact that their weapons, (…) methodically, deliberately and intentionally hit civilian targets... The blood of dozens of dead civilians is on the hands and conscience of those who arm the regime..”. End of quote. Under this agreement, Ukraine voluntarily gave up its nuclear arsenal—one of the largest in the world—in exchange for assurances from the U.S., Russia, and the UK. Specifically, these countries promised to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, avoid using or threatening force against Ukraine, refrain from economic coercion, and pursue UN Security Council action if Ukraine’s borders were violated. If Trump stands aside, allowing Russia to freely annex Ukrainian territory without meaningful pushback, he is clearly breaking these political commitments made by the United States to Ukraine under the Budapest Memorandum. Over the past few weeks, Ukraine has begun launching more aerial drone strikes on Russian territory than Russia is carrying out in Ukraine.
