Claude and I got a live sodium atom simulation! lightcell energy 🔆 I've long wanted to be able to visualize what is really happening when a neutral sodium atom is excited in a flame or a bulb. Classical theory teaches that the single outer electron orbits the nucleus and... full shells, and forms a dipole when this gets "wanged" but, physicists have long wondered, what does it look like when the electron gets wanged? is it like ringing a bell? i thought that this was the perfect time to really push what is capable of, in terms of building artifacts. grabbed zig to compile wasm and webgpu to make it super performant, and work with it for a bit and ran the REAL TIME-DEPENDENT Schrödinger equation on a 3D grid in a potential in the browser. and you can kick it! what!! it's soo beautiful... this is going on the website overhaul for sure here is the artifact. i don't endorse that it's exactly right, but i feel it is probably spiritually a good sodium simulation. it certainly rings my dipole!show more

#YOUNGJAE: "running away is embarrassing, but if it helps, run away anytime." actually, that's a thought we often have when we’re alone, right? like, difficult thoughts or, to put it simply, “i want to quit my job. what do i do?” before going to bed at night, “i want to quit right now, but if i do, what can i even do?” people think about those things a lot, right? i sang this song because i hoped it could bring comfort in those moments. this song also really helped me when i was struggling alone. it has the lyric, “running away is embarrassing, but if it helps, it’s okay” and i really like the lyric that follows it: “you don't have to always face everything head-on to be brave. we are young, and we have tomorrow” that part made me feel like, “this is a song i really want to sing.” it made me want to sing it that much. and i thought it could really be a source of strength for you all too, which is why i recommend it.

This is from today's #WCWS game. This was ruled a base hit when it happened (you can see the 'H' pop up), but was changed to a missed catch error by the first baseman at the bottom of the fourth. This is an impossible catch for the first baseman with a ball thrown from that angle, that hard. This throw has to be to the glove, and while it's not a wild throw, it's low enough that the first baseman cannot get her glove around it in time. This is where replay gets you in trouble. The slo-mo replay makes it look like it's a catchable ball, but it isn't. In real time, at live speed, this isn't an error. This isn't a missed catch or a drop. I was loving the call of a single, especially because it was the first hit, and then, when it was changed, it felt like it was to protect a no-hitter. Everything about this screams "above ordinary effort" ... I would have left this as a single.

The crown is decorated with both diamonds and gemstones, and it's absolutely beautiful. I used to wear it to events all the time. While you're listening to me, you can continue making your payments, everybody. Back then, I wore it to events throughout the entire year because whoever held the Miss Grand title that year had to wear the crown to every event, whether it was to thank sponsors or attend various Miss Grand events. And this thing is heavy. It's really heavy. It was so heavy that every time I wore it, it would actually leave a dent on my head right here. It would leave a mark, like the crown had been pressing into my head. I did my duty perfectly throughout that entire year, wearing it for the full year. Then the following year, I got to wear the crown for the first runner up, which was Miss Grand International. So I hope everyone misses this little one. In Lawrence of Arabia, the desert is the female and the movie is shot to make the desert look gorgeous. In detective movies, you'll have a male detective and a female femme fatale who carries the mystery. Pressfield says: "That's a principle I have: the female carries the mystery. And I'll ask myself of any idea I have: what's the female in this story? Is there a mystery? What is the mystery? The mystery is almost always something that cannot be solved. It's like: What is life? What is death? And it gets back to God. It gets back to creation. It gets back to life."
