Claude Code for Video Animations? Building an app with an agent that can create and edit animated videos... In 4 prompts. This was my first test of remotion, i'm going to see how good i can get the Claude Agent SDK at making animated videos.

Oh this is actually huge. Stuff like this literally removes one of the biggest early-stage blockers expensive launch videos. I’ve been sitting on an idea that needed an “ah-moment” video to really click, but a $1k+ budget just wasn’t realistic. If agents can now generate and iterate on animated videos quickly, this changes how solo builders and small teams launch. Definitely going to try this out for my product. 🚀

claude writing remotion code is like giving a toaster a gpu and asking it to make art

Remotion + an agent is a nasty combo. The real win is when it stops being “make a cool clip” and becomes “take structured inputs, output a repeatable scene system” so you can ship 10 variants without re-prompting all day.

the "4 prompts" part is wild. with traditional video tools you'd still be fighting the timeline UI. would love to see how complex the scenes can get before it starts hallucinating keyframes

Congrats on the first test. Looks sick. Curious to see how Claude does this over time.

Four prompts doesn't mean it works. It means you got output four times. The question isn't whether Claude Code can generate video animations. It's whether those animations are actually usable or if you're about to spend the next 20 prompts fixing edge cases. First tests always look impressive. Then you try to change timing. Adjust animations. Handle different aspect ratios. And suddenly you're debugging generated code that breaks in ways you don't understand. Remotion's powerful. But it's still code. And code generated by agents still needs someone who knows what good animations look like to evaluate if it's trash. Most people skip that part. They see it render something. Call it success. Ship it. Then users complain the animations feel off and nobody knows why because the person who built it doesn't actually understand the code that got generated. Test it more. Push edge cases. See where it breaks. Then you'll know if this is actually useful or just a demo that worked once. Four prompts is a start. Not proof.

Hey. This is really cool. I have built something similar but without remotion. I am thinking of adding a remotion layer to that. My tool already creates high quality animated explainer videos.

@rileybrown, using Claude for video creation is interesting, and the Agent SDK can certainly help with that process.

I was literally thinking about how I can create a product launch video without hiring someone, because in the past, I have always done that. So, I don't have any video editing skills, or I would say not even screen recording skills to be precise. And I woke up today and I saw this, and it is just brilliant!

Claude Code plus Remotion is such a fun combo, the hard part is getting the agent to treat scenes as editable state not one shot generations. Curious if you are leaning on skills to diff and patch timelines or just regenerating clips each prompt.

Loved this, Riley. Been using Remotion a lot !! the only thing I struggle with is style accuracy. When I feed visual references, it nails ~70% but the fonts/gradients/details drift. Any tips for getting tighter style fidelity?

Creating animated videos with Claude Code seems ambitious, but isn't the real challenge in editing and refining those animations, rather than just generating them. You're giving yourself a tough test with only 4 prompts to work with. Can the Claude Agent SDK really deliver polished results with such a limited input?
