For the first time in a long time, I feel free. The game is still my passion, but I’m no longer carrying that weight alone. The renowned Andrew Lloyd Webber, one of the most famous musical-theatre composers in the world, known for works such as “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Sunset Boulevard” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”, made a video praising ROSALÍA’s “LUX”. “I’ve just been listening, for about the fifth time, to ROSALÍA’s incredible new album. I mean, it has got to be the album — if not of this year, then, I think, the album of the decade so far. It’s absolutely brilliant, and the string arrangements, I think, are totally extraordinary. Her voice is amazing, but what I love about it is the fact that it’s truly musical. It’s got all of these different tempi; it’s not relentlessly in 4/4 time. It’s got all sorts of exciting sounds, and I’ve heard a string orchestra and tried to use it myself, you know, going right back to Jesus Christ Superstar, in a percussive way and in different ways, but I’ve never heard it so well recorded or so well used as on this album. I am going to use the Latin pronunciation of ‘LUX’. I don’t like ‘LUX’; I think ‘LUX’ is much better, because then you can say Et lux perpetua, which means ‘eternal light’. And I think this album is going to be eternal.”
