I lived in the US for a year back in 2003. Matrix Reloaded came out in May, and the hype around it was seriously insane, beyond imagination. In the movie, the main characters are using this super cool phone, and then in a close-up shot, I spotted the 'Samsung' logo right there on it. It felt absolutely mind-blowing and magical. I came back to Korea full of hope that this thing would actually go on sale worldwide. But later I found out it was only released in the US as a super limited edition of just 5,000 units (or so I heard back then). I was hugely disappointed… but eventually, I tracked one down and bought it from a collector. Even now, looking at it, the design is still so damn cool. I took it to a carrier to try using it for real, but they told me it’s a 2G phone and can’t be used anymore. That was another big letdown, I remember it clearly. Do you guys like the Matrix movies too? I’m a total huge fan!

My mom really liked a song that she heard on the internet for our first song that really wanted to dance to, but she didn't care for the original singers voice. She asked me if I could sing it at my wedding for our first dance, but since it was a brand new song and relatively unknown, there were no instrumentals online and I told her it wasn't possible. 🐹 “Back to Life” was made about two or three years ago. I really wanted to try making a full-on rock song, so I told producer Helix that I wanted to make something like that and asked him to send me a track. He sent me one, and then I started working on it. Even the very first draft had all English lyrics. Back then, I wrote everything by myself, so there were a lot of grammatical mistakes and parts where the expressions weren’t strong enough. I kept it as a guide for a while, and then this year, when talk came up about doing a SKZ-PLAYER, I thought maybe this would be the right song to bring back out. So I asked LB to work on the lyrics. Based on the message I wanted to convey, I asked him to help fix the grammar and flesh things out more, and that’s how the song was completed. I think this was the right timing to release it. So I rerecorded everything, revised the track too, and that’s how it came out. 🐹 “Where did you make ‘Back to Life’?” I made it at my old studio, not the one I’m using now. 🐹 “What program do you use?” Cubase! 🐹 “When did you film the music video?” You know how I sent that Bubble message really early in the morning saying that I was going to do a lot this year? I think I also said there was something I really wanted to show you. That was actually the day we filmed it.

storytime with kai #2 ⭐️ 🐧 i feel like i’ve told you this before but i have a scar near my chest here 🐧 the reason i got the scar was because…i got hurt really bad when i was a kid and that left a scar 🐧 …just kidding! i do have a scar but i didn’t get it when i was a kid, i got it during ‘run away’ 🐧 it’s actually not a scar, it’s a stretch mark 🐧 as you guys know, in comparison to our debut days, my body suddenly grew starting ‘run away’ 🐧 and because of that, one day when i woke up, i saw that i suddenly got a stretch mark and it actually looked cool so i like this stretch mark 🐧 people usually get stretch marks in strange places but because it was here…i actually didn’t know it was a stretch mark at first, i suddenly got a red scar and it looked as if somebody had scratched me so i was like “did somebody scratch me..?” and it was quite deep so i wondered what it could be and how i found out that it was a stretch mark because my body had grown was…there’s a person in our protocol team who said that he got similar stretch marks 🐧 he said that he used to have a small frame but when he started working out and his body grew bigger, he got stretch marks and i found out what it was through that protocol team member…i found out 2 years after i got it so i was like “that makes sense, i used to have a small frame during our debut and my body suddenly grew during ‘run away’ so that’s why i got the stretch mark, huh?”

Hia New is already handsome, cool and has a cool voice, but this was even more than Hia New. Like a “badder” version of Hia New. And to get that voice, it wasn’t easy at all. mingyu talking about their tiny desk concert video 🖤 🐶 i wasn't able to sleep until 5am earlier, i wanted to post the tiny desk video on my ig right away and i feel proud [of what we did] and i was really nervous as well. we were in washington dc for around 5 days and we rehearsed for that to prepare and then filmed, and it wasn't really easy. we really had nothing - there was no audio coming out from the mic and it was just my raw voice. we didn't have any in-ears, we weren't singing over a backing track either but with a live band so i was pretty nervous. so i was contemplating if i should do it or not but i kind of just went for it at the end. it was a good experience and i just went for it thinking, "when will we ever get to do this?" seeing us, seventeen, on npr is so fascinating in itself and i felt very proud of what we achieved that's why i liked it.
