The plane on the left is higher up (hence smaller) and so may be passing through less moist air. Trails are created when planes fly through air that is already maxed out with moisture (the capacity for air to hold which drops with temperature, so all else being equal the trails are more visible in cold air than warm).

Planes at different altitudes (if they weren’t, they wouldn’t appear that close together in the sky). Pressure, temperature and relative humidity varies with altitude. Some are conducive to producing contrails; others not. But you didn’t really want an explanation, did you?
