Cliffhanger (1993) The opening sequence in Sylvester Stallone's action classic isn't for vertigo sufferers. It's a visually stunning set-piece, a mixture of practical effects and stunts edited to perfection by Frank J. Urioste. Michelle Joyner also looks absolutely terrified.

Watched this recently (a delightful slice of nostalgic 90's action for me), and I noticed for the first time that Frank (pilot) absolutely wants her to die - look at that expression. Sinister as all Hell (about 2.35 in the clip).

🤣😂🤣

Saw this one opening night in a packed theater. You could hear people hold their collective breath in between sudden cries from the acrophobics (present company included). Pretty sure a few people near me fear-farted. And that was...THE OPENER???

The rest of the movie isn’t very good but this is one of the greatest opening scenes in movie history. I thought I was going to have a heart attack the first time I watched it.

Nope. Don’t like this scene. Don’t like heights.

🤣😂🤣

Never wanna get on Michael Rooker's bad side.

He's Mary Poppin's y'all

Saw it in my home town theater. I was somehow sitting under the AC and was freezing the whole time. It was wonderful

The "Sarah Falls" cue by Trevor Jones for this sequence is an extraordinary mixture of propulsion and emotion. And such spectacular (and dangerous) work by DoP Alex Thomson and his camera department!
