It seems she uses a long term model verses short term, does not deny climate change, but rather shows that human progress has out performed the doomsday scenarios in most cases on the macro. She acknowledged that some places feel greater impacts, though on the whole, humans have become better off over the past one hundred years related to climate change, rather than the opposite. It's not exactly a "quasi religious movement" at all, it's more like "humans, as well as our infrastructure, aren't built around these temperatures, resulting in more frequent localized blackouts and increased costs due to AC use spikes".

My book from the late 1800's has a large section on climate change. And the fires in Canada would go un-noticed if the winds never pushed the smoke south and this is normal each year, some worse than others. Gov do not have set it up to deal with these properly.
