Steven Spielberg's 1977 Close Encounters of the Third Kind features a scene where air traffic controllers are heard over the radio discussing UFOs flying near nearby air planes This scene was pulled from J Allen Hynek's 1973 book which featured a whole chapter on radar visual UFO encounters This scene also displays the stigma present at the time that prevented pilots from reporting UFO sightings excerpt from my new documentary on Close Encounters of the Third Kind
