Haha! That’s the exact date I got married! Thirty-eight years and we are still going strong; just like the great music of the 70s and 80s!

@4thOfJuly365 I’m hanging on. I have 80’s on 8 on my sat radio for the past 15 years. Casey was part of my childhood, so good to hear.

I had that Garfield garbage can in my room. Had it for a while until I got sick one time and used it for a puke bucket because that's all I had within reach. My mom just threw it away at that point.

It doesn't matter how much anyone says their generation growing up was the best and like no other. The 80s was the most amazing and awesome decade in history to experience as a teen, or even adolescence. There will truly be nothing like it ever again.

Damn I really am getting old. #BlessUp

Brings back a bunch of memories.

We have a station (outside of) Minneapolis that plays the old Casey Casem American Top 40 shows. It is incredible to hear again.

We belonged to a old strip mine beach club in Wilmington, IL. This would play over the bull horn speaker all day. We had no idea we were in peak America at that time but we sure do now

@4thOfJuly365 We had it so good

I always loved the dedications.

I’ll never forget the good times listening American Top 40, what a happy moments.

This brings back memories!! I used to listen to Casey Kasem every weekend!! 😁

Gotta go find one for the old tapes.

The best.

Omg that is sooooo close to the boombox I had on that day. I don’t remember it having those red lights, but everything else is spot on. Mine was the 1986 version.

Wish I Still had My Radio and Cassette Tapes..

The original voice of Shaggy.

Mercedes boy lol. Remember that song

Memory Lane…

I was in Jump School at FT Benning on that day.

Local radio plays reruns on Sunday mornings - love it.

Casey Kasem’s penultimate American Top 40 show from his original run (1970-1988). July 30, 1988 was guest-hosted by Daryl Hall & John Oates, and August 6, 1988 was Casey’s final show, after which Shadoe Stevens took over on August 13, 1988.

Very cool!!

And then hearing which one was #1. So exciting

Yes!

Casey kept us current on the tunes.

I had that Garfield trash can

That trash can looks familiar.

Here’s mine, it was my mom’s. I’m about to be 45. Mom used to listen to so much music on this. She’d also record tapes and mail them to grandma. So grandma could hear our voices anytime she wanted in case we weren’t home to answer the phone. Oh and you can see some of my My Little Pony’s. Those were mine. I keep them in a room full of my things from childhood and things from the 80’s ive collected.

I probably heard the whole countdown while doing summerfallow. #cheaptrick

Please God continue to bless and watch over him and keep him in your Holy embrace during his time in heaven for he was and will forever be an American 🇺🇲 Treasure and Icon❗❗❗❗❗❗😎👍🙂👊🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲✝️
