If a... simple configuration error can knock out major platforms for hours, imagine what happens when every part of your life depends on a single digital identity. Imagine when access to travel, banking, healthcare or even social platforms is tied to one system that can fail or be switched off. This is not conspiracy. It is basic common sense. Centralised digital control is dangerous. Outages like today show how quickly everything can collapse and how easily authorities or corporations could restrict your access with one decision. Digital id. Remember Black Mirror with John Hamm? He was ghosted and couldn't interact with anyone or participate again. For the rest of his life. Hell on Earth. The hill to die on.

This is the message we received yesterday (18/11/2025) here in Cyprus. We also suffer power outages quite often in certain areas, so we're aware that when we're locked out, one becomes helpless to modern tech.

Digital ID can exist fairly only if its self-custodial, your data not kept on a govt server, you own your own data, and corporates that want to use your data must buy it from you with terms and conditions of use.. This tech is possible now, and most people are unaware of it.

Covid, vaxtopia, blackouts spectacularly demonstrated society's fragility. The more centralized the more the 1% veer us all towards a hunger games society where they're the greedy capitol vampiric monster fear feeding off the 99% & a "district" dystopia they desperately claw for.

Not that I needed to, but I saw for myself how much we depend on the #digitalworld in the power outage in #Portugal earlier this year. The internet was gone, as were usable ATMs and bank cards. Only real cash was usable. I wrote a poem.

Sites that depend on a single subcontractor to function are poorly designed. As a general engineering principle you should not design a single point of failure into anything. In distributed network systems you should design in redundancy, not least for security reasons. Always have secure failback options.
