@Moyo4_President Jospeh and Mary were direct descendants of King David. This made Jesus Christ have a double claim to be the King of the Jews. Mary is a direct descendant of David through Nathan. Christian Faith isn’t built on Adoption, but Legitimacy: The Seed of the Woman in Genesis 3:15.

Yes Mary was also from the line of David, but do we think Jesus would have claimed line of David if it was only based on Mary? People that didn’t necessarily regard women.

Joseph's lineage is given to emphasize the fact that Jesus had been born of a virgin. Because of a curse that God placed on one of Joseph's ancestors, Jesus could never sit upon the throne of David if Joseph had been His natural father.

Beautiful message, although Mary was also a descendant of David. Secondly the adoption (which is still celebrated in isreal till date,) refers to when a Father CEREMONIALLY brings his male CHILDREN into SONSHIP. From Nepios to Teknon. Gal 4:1-4 points this out.

Well, there’s something he needs to read more. If you check both genealogies (Mary’s and Joseph), reading from Matthew and Luke, you’ll find out that both of them are descendants of David. Regards.

A deep study of the book of Luke & Mattew shows that Joseph was likely the son-in-law to “Heli” and Mary his natural Daughter. (Luke 3:23). Because Matthew 1:16 describes Joseph as been fathered by Jacob. Jesus was a natural (not adopted) descendant of King David through Mary
