When noone can afford stuff so you stop importing, the trade deficit goes down.

So what? Are my groceries cheaper? Did the price of gas come down? Did unemployment radically decrease? Can people afford to buy homes yet? Seriously, who tf cares?

It’s a fake number. Companies imported huge amounts of goods before the tariffs took effect so technically the trade defect went down, but only because we didn’t need the goods we usually import.

I actually can’t believe so many people got the tariffs wtong. Anyone responsible for sales understands you can’t walk away from your absolute biggest client (USA) without devastating sales losses because almost never can you replace them. Trump made it fair to the USA.
