Section 230 is a relic of the early internet. Signed into law in 1996, when “logging on” meant a dial-up connection and social media didn’t exist. It helped the internet grow. But today, it’s helping tear our society apart. In the real world, speech has limits. You can’t threaten violence or spread harm without consequences and you shouldn’t be able to do it online either. Over the past 30 years, the internet has gone from a luxury to a necessity, and social media has turned from an experiment into a massive business. These companies shouldn’t enjoy blanket immunity while their platforms spread threats, violence, and hate. It’s time for Congress to update Section 230 and hold social media companies accountable for keeping dangerous content off their platforms, just like we expect responsibility and accountability everywhere else.

Let’s just clear up a few things up that people like Candace and Cenk seem to be confused about. If you are an American citizen and you are a raging anti-Semite that is your cross to bear. Feel free to continue to be a raging anti-Semite. I will defend your right to speak even though I loathe your message. I am a free speech absolutist. President Trump supports free speech for American citizens and anyone pretending like he doesn’t is using their biased hatred for Israel to be anti-Trump. That being said while I will defend your right to be a raging anti-Semite that doesn’t mean you have the right to be respected, listened to or invited into polite society. The right to speak freely is not the right for us to accept your free speech as if it’s anything more than anti-Semitic crap. If you are not an American citizen and you are here to destroy this country because you don’t believe in western civilization and you spew the talking points of authoritarian regimes then you hate the West and I don’t feel bad when you are deported. I actually celebrate that. And no amount of calling something free speech will make it a free speech thing. I actually think that’s the most intellectually dishonest argument made by people who are very smart and are doing this in a very calculated way. And when you have three people sitting on a stage who are freaking millionaires as they criticize Israel every single day, excuse me if I laugh at them for saying nobody can criticize Israel. You have to just accept that because that’s also part of that whole free speech thing. FBI Actions: People are now outraged on social media because the FBI went to the home of a Muslim woman named Rolla Abdeljawad and asked her about her Facebook posts. People questioned whether they were really FBI and then attacked these agents doing their jobs. Let’s clarify a few things: 1) These are in FACT FBI agents. It has been confirmed. 2) The video is out of context. The confrontation started well prior to the video starting. The agents identified themselves to Rolla. Rolla then apparently ran into the other room to get her phone to record them. They then refused to ID themselves on Video, after already allegedly identifying themselves. 3) Here is one of the posts made on Facebook from the woman’s account apparently: “Israhelli terrorist filth. They think Ramadan is a weakness for Muslims not, realizing Ramadan is the strength. May Allah destroy every single despicable zionist, their supporters and backers.” This is one of many posts like it. 4) The FBI has a duty to stop any possible crime before it takes place. To do that they question people all the time. 5) This is NOT a violation of free speech. Threatening other people is NOT 'Free Speech'. Questioning someone about their speech is also not a violation of speech. I have had the FBI at my home several times after people had threatened my family or used my name to threaten to blow up airports and daycares. This is their job.
