And many of them told me that this was, in fact, the worst deployment that they have ever experienced. It was incredibly hard, and many of them expressed to me that they actually wish that they hadn't even done a port call. They wanted to just go directly home. And another thing they told me is they are afraid that because of this war, these really long deployments without any port calls are going to become normalized. I was like, how did you know what emails I searched? There’s a separation of powers for a reason. This is spying on members of Congress. We are calling for a full accounting of what they are using it for, and they need to stop that. We need a new process that assures us they are not spying on members of Congress.

They are trying to get back to a situation that looks like it’s going to be worse than it was before they started the war, just to get the Strait of Hormuz moving again. This is a president who tore up a nuclear deal that he would be glad to have today with the Iranians that President Obama negotiated years ago. I just really don’t think they know what the heck they are doing.
