On the second day of recruiting myths… Myth #2: “The name on the front of your jersey doesn’t matter.” There is some truth here. But people usually say this to make you feel better if you’re not on a team in the “recruiting bubble.” And yes of course there are always outliers. If you’re Montana Fouts, you could show up playing for the Butterflies and coaches would still be lined up drooling at the fence. But for most of us? The jersey does matter. Especially if you don’t have true 5-star size or can’t blow people away with elite metrics. I know this because I’ve been on both sides of it. Same player. Same work ethic. Completely different response from coaches. Why does the jersey matter more than people admit? First impressions. If a coach doesn’t recognize your club as one that consistently produces players at their level, you have to overwhelm them with performance and numbers just to get the same look. What matters even more than the jersey name is the coach attached to it. My last club, Rising, was brand new. But my coach, Steve Appel, had a lot of successful former players at top 25 programs. Coaches knew him. Trusted him. We were at the best fields and no one cared what was on the front of our jerseys. At my first tournament with that team, I saw more college coaches than I had in my entire recruiting journey before that. It’s true. College coaches aren’t recruiting a jersey. They’re recruiting you. But your jersey affects: •what fields you play on •who stops to watch •how risky you look on paper A well-known club with proven coaches comes with built-in credibility. Can you get recruited without that? Yes. I did. But if you’ve read my book, you know how many things had to line up for that to happen. So is there truth to this myth? Yes. But most of the time, when people say it, they’re trying to protect you from a harder truth: Recruiting isn’t just about how good you are. It’s also about who’s willing to vouch for you. And your jersey is a powerful indicator of that before a coach sees you even pick up a ball. #RecruitingRules Rule #6: The lifeblood of recruiting is relationships. And whether you like it or not, the front of your jersey is part of that. Photo Caption: Top image my OG team, AZ Steel after winning the Colorado Sparkler Supplemental Power Pool. Bottom image with steve appel after winning PGF Nationals. My original team eventually made it into the “recruiting bubble” the summer after I committed. We were a solid competitive team at the national club level, but having played for both, no one will ever convince me that my recruiting opportunities would have been the same regardless of which jersey I was wearing. Completely different worlds. I wouldn’t change my path. I ended up exactly where I always dreamed to be, and my path made me who I am, but in my case believing this myth for so long cost me time and my family money.

Hills I will die on as someone who has coached high school football for over 29 years: 1. If you are not PASSIONATE about blessing, serving, and empowering those you are blessed to coach, this profession is not for you. 2. As much as we need to know our trade, getting to know (and to love), our players is far more important. 3. This is an INTENSE game, and it’ll never be “just a game”, but it IS a game. Remember that when you’re with your team, and more importantly, remember that when you’re with your family. 4. Just as we teach our athletes to “leave things better than they found them”, we need to leave our athletes better than they were when they first entered into our program. Never let a day pass without pouring into each and every individual. 5. Life is complicated enough, let’s not complicate the game in such a way that we take the joy of it away from others. In other words… Keep it simple. 6. Our words carry little (or NO), value, if we don’t practice what we preach. WE as coaches should be learning and growing each and every day, just as we expect our athletes to. 7. As much as we all want to win those championship rings for our athletes, make sure you don’t lose your wedding ring in the process. 8. The athlete that may be “difficult to reach/teach” (the one who may get on your last nerve more than you could ever imagine), is someone’s EVERYTHING. Get to know them as human beings, find out what motivates them, and do everything you can to help them to thrive. 9. Be where your feet are. Don’t fall into the trap of chasing logos and thinking that a higher division, a bigger school, or going from HS to college, or even college to the pros, is going to be more rewarding or fulfilling. 10. The legacy you leave as a coach will never be determined by your wins and losses, but by the lives you were able to change for the better!

THE COACH IS NOT THE CALENDAR. Gautam Gambhir is a dear friend, but my support for him today is not based on friendship. It is based on fairness, experience and cricketing common sense. Indian cricket has developed a dangerous habit: celebrate people when they win, then look for one individual to publicly sacrifice when results turn against us. One difficult run does not suddenly make Gautam a poor coach. It does not erase his achievements, his cricketing intelligence, his leadership or the winning mentality he has brought to every team he has represented. Should his selections and tactics be questioned? Absolutely. That comes with the job. Gautam himself would expect nothing less. But before blaming only the coach, perhaps we should also question the people constructing these punishing schedules. Our players came through an intense IPL season and were immediately pushed into international cricket, different countries, different conditions and back-to-back series—with inadequate time to rest, recover, practise or mentally reset. Players are not machines. Coaches are not magicians. You cannot create exhaustion administratively and then blame the dressing room when performance suffers. India must decide what matters most. The IPL should remain the priority and the centrepiece of the cricketing calendar. ICC tournaments and meaningful Test cricket must be protected. Bilateral series should be selective, competitive and commercially relevant. Meaningless one-day series that add little beyond television inventory should be scrapped. More cricket does not automatically mean better cricket. Gautam must be judged over a full cycle, not condemned after one bad passage. Review the cricketing decisions—but also review the calendar, the travel, the recovery periods and the workload placed upon our players. Stand by the coach. Protect the players. Fix the schedule. Then demand results. I stand firmly with my friend Gautam Gambhir. Lalit Modi Founder, IPL

Self organisation is for LAZY coaches! Elite coaches should verbalise all of the nuances of detail to maximise the performance of their athletes. Video analysis should provide you with all of the granular data so that you can make minute analysis and provide the most specific cues for each step in the sprint. 🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥 At the end of last the summer I reached to Frans Bosch to bug him on all things sprinting. It’s been 3/4 years since we had spoken last so it was very refreshing to talk about what I had been witnessing whilst analysing footballers. Somethings that I learnt from him over a decade ago and have consistently used to maximise speed skills. 1) “take the arms out of the running cycle and the body will need to self organise in order to avoid over rotation and thus keep the abdominals in the sweet spot” 2) “Run bouncy with excellent co contractions between hip, knee and ankle will keep the hamstring in the sweet spot, reducing strain” 3) “Stabilise running technique by clarifying how to PROJECT , SWITCH AND REACT (PSR) over increasing amounts of velocity, vectors and variations of instability” 🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬 I took the concept of PSR directly from the heuristics of dpfaff 15 years ago. A man who gives and gives and gives and gives some more. Dan let me bug him for months, write my thesis on him, then I got to stalk him daily for 3 years in the build up to the 2012 Olympics. Coaching the PSR pillers became a very helpful way of reducing the clutter of technical jargon and degrees of freedom. It focused my coaching eye and created a shared language for athletes, therapists and non technical coaches. ⚽️🏉🏈🏟️🥅🎾🏏🏐🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏾🏃🏽‍♂️ 3 years ago I started working with Ryan Grubbs before he joined the NFL. Ryan and I put our heads together to create a system that would reduce the friction for coaches wanting to coach more efficient movement . We downloaded our brains in to a range of decision trees and algorithms and then began to support teams through our joint venture Speed Solutions We provide a unique macroscopic analysis of intense game actions (acceleration, deceleration , change of direction and max velocity). All data is visualised and compared athletes of a similar level within our data base. We have stood on the shoulders of great academic work of Ryu Nagahara Helen Bayne James Wild and Ken Clark, PhD and then layered in our experiences coaching the best athletes and players from around the world. 🤳🎥👾💻🖥️🧑‍💻📉📊📈 vuemotion provide us with the data and Speed Solutions provides us with the insight. Self organisation is a concept built for lazy coaches like me. Measure what matters. Coach the PSR PILLERS Design a training environment that challenges skill stability. Then Measure again. 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕 This was longer than I planned (I am sick stuck in bed) , so well done if you made it this far. Drop me a question video analysis using, lazy coaching or building Olympic level Speed Skills.

I love this perspective from #NBAFinals bound San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson on the tension between potential and experience: Experience is valuable, but it doesn't tell the whole story. 📖 Our brains 🧠 tend to naturally trust what they've already seen. A familiar outcome. A more predictable asset. A long résumé. A player with years of reps. Someone with a collection of war stories and proven results. The bias is so easily formed. But it's important to remember as leaders, experience only tells you where someone HAS been. It doesn't tell you what their habits look like today. It doesn't reveal their hunger, their discipline, their willingness to learn, or the standards they hold themselves to when nobody is watching. Experience isn't correlated to their TRAJECTORY. 📈📉 That's why we sometimes overlook youth and inexperience. It happens in every industry, not just sports. "Bosses" often mistake a lack of history for a lack of ability. Past performance can provide clues, but it doesn't guarantee future success. The future is often built by the person whose habits are stronger than their résumé. Experience tells you where someone's from. Habits tell you where they're going. If you're trying to do something transformational, spend less time obsessing over what's already happened and more time focused on what's happening right now: the reps you can control, the hours of preparation you can invest, the standards you can uphold today with zero grace. Because counter intuitively, experience isn't gained in big moments. It's accumulated in EVERY moment. In every rep. In every habit. In how you approach anything and everything. The game is just where those habits reveal themselves to the public. Old dogs know where the food is, but the hungry dogs will always run further. 🐶

🎙️ Raphinha after FC Barcelona’s 7-2 win: 🤝 On Hansi Flick and their relationship: “I can’t speak about others, but the truth is I’ve always said this and I’ll keep saying it forever. He’s the coach who changed my mindset so much inside the club, as well as the way I look at myself. That’s why I’m so grateful to him, and whenever I can, I’ll prove it to him.” 📈 On his level and always wanting to improve: “I think it’s always important to think that there’s something you need to improve. I’ll never tell you that I’m fine or that I’ve reached my best level, because if I said that, I’d be lying. I always try to improve everything I can, and I’m certain there’s still something more I can offer the team than what I’m offering now. I’m happy with the goals and the victory, and I think that’s the most important thing. But we have to keep improving, not just individually, but as a team as well.” 🎯 On playing as a striker: “The truth is, I’m comfortable there and scoring goals. I feel like I’m in good form.” Reporter: “Not bad, is it?” Raphinha: “No, not bad.” 😅 🤝 On Lamine after missing the penalty and helping his teammates: “This is normal, and that’s why whenever I can, I’ll try to help him, not just him, but Karim and Gabriel as well. I, more than anyone else, know that a striker needs his goal. We’re trying to do everything we can so he can score. We’re like a family here, and in a family everyone needs to be okay and moving in the same direction. So whenever we can, each one of us tries to help the other.” 🔥 On Adeyemi, the new players and Barça’s mentality: “I think this is the players’ hunger and their constant desire to achieve more. We have a mentality that whenever we can, we should look for more goals and create more chances. On top of that, it shows on the pitch just how strong our bond is as teammates. In that moment, I think Karim saw Lamine in a much better position to score the goal. And I think if we keep going this way, we have everything it takes to be at the top.” 💙❤️

I’ve never shared the full inside baseball on the inside fastball that broke my jaw April 5, 2008 at Ole Miss, we were facing projected 1st rounder and future Big Leaguer, Lance Lynn Before it became widespread, Lance had success pitching towards the top of the zone with a fastball that appeared to rise He got me out my first at bat on a high fastball that I should have laid off So my 2nd at bat I told myself to see the ball down in the zone My eyes jumped from his release point to the area I was trying to see the ball down to. I never ended up seeing the pitch until .01 before it hit me If you’ve ever gotten hit in the face, you don’t know what happened at first. So it took me about half a second to realize what happened When I did, I fully expected to spit teeth out and when I leaned over to spit and saw that only blood came out, I assumed I was fine Then I heard the Ole Miss head coach yell “it hit his bat,” because the cracking of my jaw sounded like a foul ball off a mental bat I turned around and yelled “shut the fuck up” at their dugout and proceeded on to first base My trainer came up to me and his first words were “oh fuck,” Knowing that was poor bedside manner, and that I was probably very fucked up, I joked “you’re not supposed to say that,” At that point I knew I was coming out of the game but I was so full of adrenaline that it didn’t hurt and wouldn’t begin to hurt for a couple hours Both the pitcher and coach felt so bad after it happened that both came to apologize to me at the end of the inning while I was beside their dugout being tended to by my trainer and their doctor I actually had to walk to the parking lot through the stadium seats and all the fans looked at me in horror as I had a white bloody rag hanging off my face. It was surreal watching their reactions to my blood We drove over to an Oxford medical center that was clearly not the best location for me to be in, so my coach’s wife drive me up to Nashville to get surgery that night We got swept that weekend and I got my jaw wired shut for the first of 6 weeks I stupidly tried to come back and play the following week. My coaches let me as I was medically cleared to hit with a face mask, but the rest of my season I was a different hitter I was hitting .400 at the time of the fracture, 2nd in the SEC, with 2 months left in the season I finished the year hitting .312. Meaning I flipped from one of the best hitters in the conference to one of the worst before and after the incident Despite finishing my Vandy career 7th on their all time hit list, this play is what I hear about the most when I return I’ve been lucky that I haven’t had much issues with my jaw thus far post incident, although I did find out that 2 of the nerves of the impacted teeth are dead, and I will likely need to get one of those teeth extracted at some point When they showed me the X Ray it was a clear break. A scary image that could have been WAY worse if it were 3 inches higher, as I likely would not be able to see out of my left eye (and wouldn’t be as handsome as I am) Anyway, to have interesting ideas you must have interesting experiences and this was certainly one

Wtf am I supposed to do with this Dave (Dave Meltzer) this is so mind-numbingly dumb it actually makes me want to quit X. You almost won. I genuinely feel that sorry for you. Because what’s the fucking point. I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan. I played Division 1 football. I wasn't good at that level, but I was good enough to play at that level and against competition that was way over my head. Watching Eagles tape is kind of like my palette cleanser. It’s a hobby. Because everything else I enjoy somehow touches Hollywood and entertainment. X’s and O’s doesn’t touch my work. I can just be a fan and not somehow make it about my work. We’re 7-2 and it’s somehow still miserable to watch. We’re winning in spite of the QB. Sirianni’s boxed in. He can’t run what he wants because Hurts can’t go through progressions. We have 2 elite receivers and who are both fucking miserable because they are elite, and Hurts is an awful QB. That 4th and 6 with :30 left makes zero fucking sense unless you understand it in this context. That was frustration. It was an indictment on what they actually believe about Jalen Hurts, and Hurts couldn’t even make that throw. It almost cost the Eagles the game. That was Sirianni saying “I know what the fuck I'm doing!" Yeah, me too, Coach. I understand that Dave and Bryan make shit up. Most of you on X either don’t believe I am who I say I am, or you do and I enjoy writing really long dissertations — not because I give a fuck about arguing with Dave Meltzer. He is so obviously, to me, without any credibility. I enjoy educating and informing curious fans and giving actual credible rebuttals to what is obviously just absolute trash takes, uneducated opinions, and dishonest framing from Dave, who has absolutely destroyed his 40 years of reputation and the real respect that he once had from people that matter. I don’t even take any joy in writing this. Dave, you threw away your life’s work. You threw away 40 years of your life’s work. I get that you don’t understand the nuances of media and the economics of the business in 2025. That’s OK. Very few people do. I am amused that you double down on everything that you do not know. Anyone with a functioning brain sees right through it. It’s ok. I get a kick out of the fact that you ignore me, because if you were to engage me you’d only amplify how out of your depth you are, and you’re holding on tightly to the $14.99 subs model. I get it. I believe you are so narcissistic and myopic in your need to a) make a living and b) defend this whole narcissistic construct about the NWHOF You wear your Frank Deford idolization on your sleeve, which again… fine. Your takes hurt wrestlers. You are not honest. You very clearly have an agenda. You’ve sold 40 years of credibility for this. That’s not a new take. This… I’m not even intellectually stimulated about how can I take your 4th-grade, 1994, faux subject-matter-expert take, riff on your idiocy, and offer curious fans an actual fucking take. “Drew’s going to be gone for a while.” “He’s doing a movie.” You both said this shit so confidently. The movie doesn’t shoot until April '26. Cavill tore his ACL. It is super fucking public info. I am a real agent. This is the first time I’ve actually kind of agreed with some of my clients or coworkers or media people on X: “Nick, why do you bother? This is beneath you.” Yes, it’s indescribable how beneath me refuting you, even acknowledging your existence, is. It’s like a war crime. It’s absolutely insane that you are considered credible by anyone at all. God bless you. You have too much influence, though, with a few key people, and you are giving them bad advice bc you have no fucking clue what you are talking about and... “Drew’s going to be gone for a while.” You are a fraud. Laughably so. I am going to go back to picking apart the Eagles All-22. The movie shoots in April 2026 and I've worked the schedule out so it won't affect WWE creative.

Two women are carrying women's basketball on their backs right now, and neither one of them works in the league office. Caitlin Clark brought the audience. That is not a talking point, it is arithmetic. She moved ratings, sold out arenas, and dragged a league that had been ignored for twenty-five years into the center of American sports conversation. The new CBA that lifted the minimum salary above 300,000 dollars and quadrupled the cap does not happen without the money she generated. Every player in that league got a raise because one woman from Iowa would not miss. Sophie Cunningham gave the audience a reason to stay. She said girls should not have to compete against males. She said she was offering truth alongside love, not hate. One sentence, said plainly, in a sport where almost nobody in authority will say anything plainly. And she has been standing in the open taking incoming ever since, while the institution she plays for has not managed to say her name. Look at what happened to the people who showed up for her. Two sixteen year old girls wore XX-XY shirts to a Storm game and held a sign that said thank you Sophie for speaking up for girls. They were booed. A fan yelled security, take the trash out. Two women tried to trip one of them in the aisle. A team co-owner screamed obscenities at them until one of them cried. The league fined that owner and suspended her five home games, which means the league conceded every fact of it. Teenagers. In an arena. For a t-shirt. So think about the actual scoreboard here. Clark built the market. Cunningham defended the category the market exists to watch. Between them they have done more for women's sport in three seasons than a generation of committee statements. And the league's contribution has been a deleted gambling video, a suspended owner, and a head coach who said she was not educated enough from a scientific standpoint to answer whether males belong in the women's game. She coaches women for a living. The cape in this picture is a joke. The job is not. Somebody has to stand between little girls and the people who decided that protecting their category is a controversial opinion. Right now that somebody is a shooting guard from Missouri who was not asking for the assignment. Back your players. They are the only reason anyone is watching. Write that down. 🦋

🟩STAT, is one of your columnists, Adam Feuerstein, colluding with hedge funds?⁉️ ➡️In this post I'll do a cursory review of Mr. Feuerstein's possible collusive activities with hedge funds that are purportedly engaged in illegal share price manipulation. A May 2, 2016 article entitled “Is Adam Feuerstein the most feared man in biotech?” in relevant part, states as follows: Adam Feuerstein (Adam Feuerstein ✡️ ) often targets lower profile “small and medium-sized drug companies…” Further, Adam Feuerstein “isn’t shy about stating — without evidence — that companies are intentionally spinning data or hyping anecdotes to goose their stock.” (emphasis added) The article insinuates that Mr. Feuerstein’s articles move the market. The article: ➡️Let’s look at one such company Mr. Feuerstein has targeted and the statements he made, without evidence. Northwest Biotherapeutics, Inc. Symbol: $NWBO Mr. Feuerstein has been writing about $NWBO for over a decade. More recently Mr. Feuerstein released an article and a rash of tweets about $NWBO’s May 10, 2022 release of top-line data. Mr. Feuerstein’s article and tweets can best be summed up in his own words: “20+ years of investigation and a $1B clinical trial that failed to show a benefit for GBM patients.” See Image 1. Yet, a peer reviewed journal article from 73 authors stated the opposite: “In this study, adding DCVax-L to SOC resulted in clinically meaningful and statistically significant extension of survival for patients with both nGBM and rGBM compared with contemporaneous, matched external controls who received SOC alone.” (emphasis added) The peer reviewed journal article: In fact, before the May 10th topline data presentation occurred Mr. Feuerstein stated: “The NYAS symposium talk (now by Dr. Mulholland) will not contain any new data/results from the DCVax phase 3 clinical trial.” See Image 2. The topline data presentation can be found here: The presentation, despite Mr. Feuerstein's statement to the contrary, presented new data. So, what do we have here? $NWBO is about to release their topline data for a nearly 2-decade trial and Mr. Feuerstein is first falsely stating that no new data will be released and secondly, once the data is released, Mr. Feuerstein falsely claims the trial failed. It appears Mr. Feuerstein is trying to get people to not watch the presentation for themselves so he can then put his own spin on the topline data. ➡️What else occurred on May 9th and May 10th other than Mr. Feuerstein’s false and/or misleading article and tweets? We have the largest and one of the largest illegal share price manipulation days on record according to the $NWBO spoofing lawsuit found here: May 9, 2022 ☑️74 spoofing episodes ☑️Baiting Orders: 632,901 “The Baiting Orders successfully induced the entry of sell orders from other market participants, artificially driving down the price of NWBO shares by -2.623% on average.” May 10, 2022 ☑️100 spoofing episodes ☑️Baiting Orders: 2,883,387 “The Baiting Orders successfully induced the entry of sell orders from other market participants, artificially driving down the price of NWBO shares by -11.77% on average.” “Defendants spoofed the market for NWBO shares on both OTC Link LLC and NYSE ARCA Global OTC that day, driving down the price of NWBO shares from a high of $1.73 to a low of $0.3862. This decline of 78% in the price on a day with positive news about the Company was caused, at least in part, by Defendants’ relentless and brazen manipulation of the market for NWBO shares.” ➡️Were Mr. Feuerstein’s article and social media posts designed to give cover to illegal share price manipulation? They were certainly used as cover. The From the defendant market makers’ filing March 20, 2023: “NWBO also omits that on May 10, 2022—a day on which NWBO alleges “the market learned excellent news” about an NWBO clinical trial, and yet its share price suffered a “staggering decline . . . caused by Defendants’ relentless and brazen manipulation,” ¶ 64—an industry commentator published an analysis of NWBO’s trial data, writing that the results of the trial were “the antithesis of what’s required from any effective cancer treatment,” and actually showed that NWBO’s drug “perform[ed] worse than a placebo.”14” “14 Burck Decl. Ex. 5, Adam Feuerstein, It took years, but the failure of Northwest Bio’s brain cancer vaccine is now in the open, STAT News (May 10, 2022), The Court may take judicial notice of press coverage. See supra n.3.” See Image 3. ➡️Is this an isolated incidence of Mr. Feuerstein's article being used as cover for possible illegal share price manipulation or was the timing coincidence? No. A very quick review of Mr. Feuerstein’s articles show he seems to go out of his way to offer cover for allegations of illegal trading by hedge funds. ☑️Mr. Feuerstein calls the alleged $NWBO share price manipulation “conspiracy theories”. [1] ☑️Mr. Feuerstein, in referencing the allegations of naked shorting by hedge funds, states the allegations are “fantastical” and that there is a “non-existent hedge fund wolfpack”. [1] ☑️Here Mr. Feuerstein spends an entire article offering cover for the potential $NWBO shorts. [2] ☑️Here is another article where Mr. Feuerstein offers additional reasons for the “deep plunge in the value of Northwest Bio shares…”[3] ➡️Mr. Feuerstein went on to call $NWBO’s spoofing lawsuit "nonsense". See: Yet, a federal Judge in the Southern District of New York stated the trading in $NWBO stock bears “all these indica of spoofing.” [4] On reason put forth by $NWBO and their lead attorney, Laura Posner, for the extensive illegal share price manipulation is for the purpose of a naked short covering scheme: "And like here, the plaintiff alleged that defendants sought to benefit from their spoofing by obtaining shares at below-market prices in order to cover short positions established through a related alleged scheme of naked short selling." (Emphasis added) [5] ➡️Then we get into Mr. Feuerstein's unusual behavior Here is Mr. Feuerstein leaving a creepy voicemail with a $NWBO retail investor. See Image/video 4. Or how about emailing a university because a real doctor dares question Mr. Feuerstein's false narratives? See: There is more alleged questionable behavior, but you get the picture. ➡️Which begs the question, STAT, have you looked into this alleged behavior?
