Coach Sark made headlines today speaking about “agents” & NIL negotiations, so I wanted to see just how easy it is to become an NIL representative for college athletes. After some boots on the ground journalism, I can confirm that he cooked 😆 Athletes beware! Watch and learn ⬇️

Last week I was posting on social media about NIL agents being snakes by commanding 20% from these athletes On this week’s Bussin' With The Boys we talk about the ins & outs of the topic w/ Jon Gruden and what NIL is doing to college football —and you can see the damage it will continue to do to the overall product (teams, coaches, and athletes) if the business side doesn’t figure itself out

College sports are being pulled apart by transfer chaos, constant litigation, shady NIL deals, disappearing rivalries, and a broken system that is leaving student athletes, schools, and fans without clear rules or real protections. The Protect College Sports Act: - Ends the roster chaos with national rules for transfers (one free undergrad) and eligibility (5-in-5) - Creates enforceable standards on recruiting, tampering, and NIL disclosures - Protects student athletes’ right to earn from their own NIL - Enables enforcement of House settlement on revenue sharing and fake NIL deals - Sanctions against agents that take advantage of student athletes, facilitate player poaching, and recruit tampering - Protects women’s sports, Olympic sports, and scholarship opportunities - Preserves historic rivalries - Keeps college sports tied to education, so student athletes become successful adults - Prohibits football coaches from quitting mid-season to be hired by another program - Guarantees safety standards, health care, and an ombudsman for student athletes - Makes TV money work for college sports with an option for schools to pool media rights - Stops Super League consolidation

There is an urgent need for Congress to step in on NIL compensation. You ought to be able to receive the fruits of your labor, so I believe we should protect the rights of student athletes to receive NIL compensation. At the same time, there should be some system of rules, so compensation doesn’t spiral out of control and bankrupt school programs.

Charles Barkley says college athletes were secretly getting paid before NIL era "I got some cash from agents. I've talked to the NCAA and I think that should be legal. Because I want some money too. Everybody else is making money. I want to go on dates, buy myself a new suit, buy myself some sneakers" "If I remember correctly, I don't want to lie to you, from three agents. The most I took was like $20,000. I'm not talking about $100,000 or $1,000,000" "And that made me stay in school another year. That's not a lot of money, but I was able to do some stuff for my mother and grandmother, and I had some spending money. I'm cool, I don't have to go into the real world of the NBA after one college season"

This conversation with Shedeur and Shilo Sanders on the Pros and Cons of NIL, is worth 3 minutes of your time. Shedeur on the cons of NIL, “Love NIL, but there’s pros and cons to it though. The cons is you gotta don’t feel like you made it already. When you are able to get whatever you want at anytime in life, a lot of things don’t interest you no more. So you gotta really get down to the core of what makes you happy…..” Shilo on how NIL impacts student athletes’ drive to go to the NFL, “The thing is what we are making right now compared to you ball out and go 1st, 2nd 3rd round, it’s worth putting in that work….if you are just talking about money compared to NIL and an actual career in the league that’s two different things. You can crash out over this NIL if you want to, but you have a career ahead of you.” Shilo on why some people hate on NIL, “People hate on everything they don’t have.” You won’t see Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders more open and funny than you did in this full episode of Outta Pocket with RGIII

I introduced The HUSTLE Act with Rep. Brendan Boyle to help student-athletes invest their NIL earnings and build long-term financial stability. Student-athletes shouldn’t have to choose between preparing for the future and focusing on the classroom. This is about making sure the opportunity they worked for actually follows them beyond the field or court. I look forward to working with Sam Acho on this issue!

Parnas: Well, I was told I had to get real, authentic Mexican food when I was out in L.A., so I made it a point to do that. And I went and got nacho fries, which is real and authentic. And then, number two, I mean, boots-on-the-ground journalism. I think there are a lot of people on the internet who think that I’m just an aggregator and a mouthpiece. But I wanted to show that I actually go on the ground and test things out myself and let people know really what is happening in this world. So I took a trip to Taco Bell.

At just 17 years old, Peyton Houston is one of the top high school quarterbacks in the U.S. — and he is one of just 11 elite high school athletes to sign an NIL deal with Nike. Peyton “Pop” Houston and his dad, Shaun Houston (Shaun Houston), who is also his coach, share about working together on the field and handling success: “The work is the reason that I’m here.”

This guy is the coach of some women's team at the college level. He had a conversation with one of his female athletes about the Civil War. The lack of knowledge this woman had is so embarrassing that I cringed. She is going to eventually need a job. I weep for the future.

The NCAA is bracing for “blind transfers,” where a player transfers without ever entering the portal. 🤯 👉 With the spring portal window gone, the NCAA expects more of these moves and is discussing major penalties for schools that take them, including a 6-game head coach suspension, fines tied to the football budget, and loss of roster spots. But how can these penalties be enforced when the current contracts do not employ players to be athletes? They are just NIL deals… 🤷‍♂️ Thats’s why at Athletes.org we’re building the first players association for college athletes, because the only way to fix this is to give the athletes the seat at the table that they deserve. 🤝

College football's most decorated head coach Nick Saban spoke at the White House on Friday at a college sports roundtable hosted by President Trump. Saban called on lawmakers to fix issues he has seen at the collegiate level, where Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals have turned the focus away from education. "How much does anybody talk about getting an education anymore? Nobody talks about it at all, which is the most important thing any of these student athletes can do in terms of enhancing their future."

"When I received a little bit of NIL money, I knew I had to do something for my city as much as they have done for me." How amazing is this? Former Malvern Leopard and current Kansas Jayhawk Jalen Dupree decided to give back his NIL money to the football program at Malvern and the boys' and girls' club. People talk about all the negatives of NIL, but here's a positive: an athlete giving back to the community because of it 🥲
