Sean McVay says he has one question he believes every coach should regularly ask themselves, would you want to be coached by you “My advice to coaches is simply be reminded by asking this question to yourself: Would you want to be coached by you? That’s one of those things that you can ask yourself to kind of keep you on track.” “For coaches, it’s like, ‘Would you want to be coached by you?’ And really, I think for players too: ‘Would you want to be your teammate?’” “If that’s the perspective, you can say, ‘All right, am I doing things that, if you’re really doing it at a high level as a coach, make this a powerful platform to have?’ Or to be a teammate in a leadership role.” “I think the best leaders, they impact and influence positive change while also knowing that they’re human too. Give yourself some grace in the midst of the journey.” “But for coaches, the appropriate perspective is: Would you want to be coached by you?”

It looks like Mike Vrabel skipped the pre-draft press conference because he doesn’t want to be held accountable. And that was Vrabel’s biggest weakness in Tennessee: the man who held everyone accountable, was never accountable himself when things didn’t go well.

DOESN’T MATTER HOW SKILLED YOU ARE… IF YOU DON’T IMPACT WINNING! This is a big conversation I have with High School Coaches and parents. There are a lot of players that work year round on skill development but they don’t learn and/or be held accountable to the sacrifice, focus, energy, effort it takes to be a winning player for their team.

Bill Cowher says assistant coaches are more important than the head coach, and explains why he coached his coaches instead of his players: “There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes. Let’s be respectful of the fact that we don’t know everything. That’s the receiver’s fault.’ How do you know?” “You weren’t in that meeting room. The game is chess. It’s not checkers.” “We look at the head coaches, but let’s look at the assistant coaches. To me, those are more important. I didn’t coach the players as a head coach. I coached the coaches.” “I wanted them to have that relationship with the player, not just me. If intervention was needed, I would intervene. But let them do their thing.” “Let the coaches call their games. Let the coaches coach the individual players. You can see it from afar and coach the coaches. That’s how you give them a chance to become a head coach.”

Hold Everyone Else Responsible Gather round the new psyoooppppp just dropped! Bad person was did bad thing, but he paid attention to the thing we want you to shut up about. That means, you need to stop talking about it! Unless you are bad too? Not only that, they are chirping that Thomas Massie is to blame and HE needs to be held accountable! Can you believe it!? Flawlessly written, just like a Hollywood movie! Blame everyone else! Hold literally everyone accountable but the actual people that should be held accountable. Oh and by the way, stop talking about it! Incredible!

"You don’t need to be a captain to be a leader." If you want to be a better leader, focus on being the kind of teammate others want to follow. Take responsibility for your actions and hold others accountable, not because you want credit, but because you care about the standard.

Tom Brady said coaches shouldn’t take all the blame, arguing that players should be held accountable too. Tom Brady: ...top five quarterback and a top twenty head coach, you're not going to be successful. That coach is probably going to be fired. If you've got a top five coach and the twentieth best quarterback, you're not going to be successful and they're going to fire the coach. And once you start firing coaches, which I always think is interesting and I'd love to learn from you guys, why do you fire so many coaches all the time? Tottenham had three coaches here. Why is everyone firing everybody? Don't they realize the players play? I'm sure if you have Leo Messi as your, as your, as one of your forwards, or one of your strikers you're not going to lose that much.

Young DBs, You can’t be afraid to step into the leadership role. Understand what that entails though, it’s not about having the loudest voice in the locker room. You better be‼️ ✅ The guy that’s accountable ✅ The guy that doesn’t skip reps ✅ The guy that reaches the expectations of the program - There’s a difference between being a BUDDY and being a LEADER - A BUDDY keeps teammates accountable when it’s convenient, and doesn’t want to ruffle feathers - A LEADER keeps teammates accountable in a positive way all the time, because he knows what’s at stake.

Ngizwe Mchunu sounds and look scared or maybe the reason he is calling for Police intervention —he doesn’t want to be held accountable if anything goes wrong. 🤔🤔

Seth Greenberg says the NBA is a easier league to coach in then college basketball today: “Because the NBA has guidelines and guardrails. He knows who his roster is going to be he doesn’t have to rebuild his roster every single year. He’s going to be connected with the general manager, he’s going to have a roster he can build moving forward, he’s got a great core group. At the end of the season they win the national championship that night they’re on the phone trying to put together another roster because they got to sign 12 players.”

RECRUITING AND MARKETING College roster spots are in demand and players need to not only produce but find ways to stand out. Players, parents, and coaches marketing to college teams a necessary (highlight film, networking, etc) The biggest thing you want to avoid is overhyping the player in the marketing. College coaches are going to do their research, watch full games, talk to people and eventually will figure out who you actually are as a player - whether that’s in the recruiting process or when you get to campus. I’ve always been more concerned with the Accounting - can the player actually play, what do they need to work on to produce more for their team now, and also to have a chance at the next level… the accounting always tells the truth, marketing can lie.

😯 Georges St. Pierre says it could be ‘a problem’ for Conor McGregor if he doesn’t allow his coaches to ‘be the boss’ in fight camp “He needs to put himself into that position, not be the boss, let your coach be the boss. Because when you fight, it’s a very unpleasant environment, you don’t control nothing. If you don’t let your coaches do that for you, put you in hell, that’s a problem because it’s not reality.” (via TheBreakTalk / YT)
