Why don't they just go buy it, at the coal store?

One of my aunts put together a family tree. I was a bit disturbed that the women in my family all lived into their 80s but the men rarely made it to 40. Then I remembered that branch of the family came from Minersville PA.

That’s real work, most today never experienced anything like it.

So few people understand the manual labor of all of our ancestors who came before us, or even think about those who do back breaking work like this today. My 5G grandfather was an indentured servant for 5 years because he tried to cross the Atlantic as a stowaway and was caught by the Captain. He fought in the Revolutionary war and then went on to emigrate to Canada because they had a land grant program that began in 1792. He, his wife and his 14 kids cleared the land and expanded his acreage from 10 acres to 200. Talk about back breaking work! So as we sit down on the couch tomorrow and watch football while jamming chicken wings and beer down our throats, remember those who came before us and bless them. ❤️
