Code enforcement shows up on a couple’s Ring camera three days after they poured a side walkway on their own property. Not even a parking pad. They didn’t put rebar under it because it wasn’t meant for cars. The same guy was there when the project started. Said nothing.... The onus is on the municipality to prove the complaint, not for you to defend it. A good lawyer will make them rethink this nonsense.

As long as your property is not putting someone else at risk, I’m fine with you doing whatever you want with it. That being said, I get legitimate concerns about people worried about their property values due to the action of some people, that should be a civil matter, not code enforcement.

My mom's neighbor was preparing to put in a circular driveway in front of his home, w/ no permits. He was about to cut into the curb line when I told him that's not allowed in the HOA. I saved him a bunch of money; but he still got all bent out of shape. Too bad.

The problem is you didn’t pay the “special inspection fee” to the inspector. Most of the time, the contractor pays it CASH to the inspector (when he visits) and just builds it into your cost without you knowing, $300 to $500…
