Marilyn Monroe in “Something’s Got To Give” (1962). Contrary to popular belief “The Misfits” was not Monroe’s final film. In 1962, having lost weight and looking more incandescently beautiful than ever, the actress began work on the comedy “Something’s Got To Give” directed by George Cukor and co-starring Dean Martin and Cyd Charisse. Monroe played Dean’s wife Ellen, who finally returns from being shipwrecked on a remote island to find she has been declared legally dead and that her husband is married to Charisse. Before being fired by Fox, a glowing Monroe completed several scenes, including the infamous nude swim, a first for a major American actress. Fox rehired her, but before she could return to work, the star died of an overdose of barbiturates. (The film was later remade as the forgettable “Move Over, Darling”, with Doris Day and James Garner.) Monroe’s scenes were put in a vault until they were retrieved and reassembled, before being added to Dean and Cyd’s contributions. It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of UPD Detective Caitlin Teague. On 11/24/24, Detective Teague suffered an off-duty medical emergency and was hospitalized. Her condition quickly worsened, resulting in her passing away. Detective Teague was not only a dedicated and passionate member of our UPD family, but was an inspiration with her sense of public service. Prior to serving our community, Detective Teague earned her master’s degree in Public Administration and worked as a social worker, positively impacting countless lives. In December of 2014, Detective Teague made the switch to law enforcement and started her career with Upland PD. Detective Teague worked patrol for several years, earning the position of Field Training Officer, where she trained newly hired officers to prepare them for patrol. In May of 2021, she was selected as a School Resource Officer where she touched thousands of lives, bridged the gap between law enforcement and our youth, and became a role model to countless students who looked up to her. In July of 2022, Detective Teague was promoted to the rank of Detective where she worked property crimes and crimes against children/elders. In addition to her daily duties, Detective Teague took on several ancillary duties to serve the organization, such as being the team leader of UPD’s Crisis Negotiation Team, serving as an explorer advisor for several years, taser instructor, and trained officers on first aid/CPR and the use of Narcan. Detective Teague is survived by her husband, UPD Lieutenant Lon Teague, her mother, father, three sisters, one brother, two brothers-in-law, two nephews, one niece, and three stepchildren. Husband calls cops on his wife who is a first grade teacher. He caught her doing the unthinkable with a student from her school. In Whitman County, Washington, 25-year-old first-grade teacher Mackenzie Naught found herself facing deputies after her husband, Garrett caught her illicit messages that she was sending to a 16 year old student at her school. Garrett called the boy directly, confirmed the encounter, and immediately brought in law enforcement. Digital evidence, including Life360 location data, confirmed the 16-year-old picked her up in his pickup truck in the early morning hours of May 3, driving up to Harwood Hill where the encounter took place. During questioning, Mackenzie initially denied the relationship instead blamed marital strain and alcohol as the reason her husband was telling lies about her. Deputies were not done yet as they then questioned her long time friend Tami who was present at the house. Tami informed the deputies that McKenzie did confess to Tami about the relationship with the 16 year old. Soon after McKenzie was placed into custody and one in the interrogation room she broke down and confessing to the entire encounter—even admitting she begged the teen to take the secret to his grave. Mackenzie was charged with first-degree Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, Naught posted a $10,000 bond to be released. She formally pleaded guilty on July 10, 2026 receiving a 6-month county jail sentence, 12 months of community supervision, a mandatory psychosexual evaluation, and 10 years on the sex offender registry.
