Andrew Jackson’s statue still stands strong. 🇺🇸 This is the historic Andrew Jackson equestrian statue in Lafayette Square, right across from the White House. It’s one of the most iconic monuments in D.C. — the first bronze statue cast in America back in 1853. During the 2020 riots, protesters tried to pull it down and vandalized it, but it was protected and has now been beautifully restored. Today in the heart of Ibadan, history came alive as we erected the statue of Balogun Ibikunle at Ẹ̀lẹyẹle Roundabout, the same route he once passed on his way to war. The monument was commissioned by the Olubadan of Ibadan alongside the representative of the state governor, with members of the Ibikunle family from home and abroad led by Oloye Abdul-Lateef Akintola Ibikunle. For us, this is more than a statue. It is a symbol of the bravery, sacrifice and legacy of our forefathers. Indeed, this is a proud time to come from Ibadan a city of warriors, culture and rich history.

This is why it’s going to take a VERY long time for our USMNT to get to be at the level of the world’s best. I mean look at the footwork from Romero of Argentina in a semifinal match for the World Cup. Under this pressure, a CENTRAL DEFENDER pulls off this dribble to get himself out of trouble …pulling it out of his own ass. It will be a long time before we pull off creating a defender of this caliber able to do this with all the weight on their shoulders as they try and play it out of the back.
