Weaknesses Run Defense: - Below average length & occasionally gets stuck to blocks if he isn’t proactive with his punch - Influenced out of his gap a couple times by misdirection - Sometimes overruns fits & opens cutback lanes Coverage: - Lacks fluidity in man coverage. Allows TEs to separate out of breaks - Lacks burst to quickly close separation & recover. Feet get stuck in the mud when he’s trying to drive on a route - Below average range in man coverage. Had some issues keeping up with wheel routes - Stiff in his pedal & struggles to take deep zone drops. You can put a 15-20 yard dig over his head if the route develops quickly enough

What makes PFF’s coverage system so bad? I don’t refer to it much at all for anything but just curious. I think I’ve heard it relies too much on playmaking, could be wrong though.

They only grade coverage defenders on plays where they're targeted or they miss a tackle. So a player's coverage grade for a single game will be based on like 3 plays. You get no credit for playing tight man coverage or defending a route properly in zone if you aren't targeted. They also punish way too heavily for screens where the defender was outnumbered and had no realistic chance of making the stop

I LOVE THIS! FINALLY! MIAMI GOT A STUD! Chris Bell is my WR8 and would have been higher if not for the ACL injury. Most projected him to run a 4.3 to a low 4.4 at the combine. 6’1 ⅞, 222 lbs., Chrisl Bell will over flexibility as an X, Z and flanker option for an offense. Bell can stretch a defense vertically on any given play, he’s good in space whether it’s his understanding of angles or using his pure raw talent to make a defender miss, has a nice wide catch radius, tracks the ball well, has good balance to play through contact and he loves the physical aspect of the game. This is a potential 1st round talent if he stays healthy. #PhinsUp

Introducing the “Get” action in basketball to lacrosse! The “Get” is a 2man action where a player passes the ball to another player and sprints to go “Get” it back on a handoff. This action has similar concepts and reads to pick and roll, but the picker is actually the ball handler! In lacrosse, we have been experimenting with Gets because it creates so many interesting situations and reads for the players. The way we teach it in small sided games is to have one offensive player declare “I’m shut” and the defense has to face-guard him. From there we pick for the shut off player trying to spring them free for the Get. The ball handler has to engage and control their defender, anticipating the shut player trying to get open. The shut player can backdoor if being overplayed towards the get (rejecting the get), receive a flip, or continue curling around the ball getting open for a late pass. The ball handler can feed the reject, flip the ball, or fake the flip to attack the goal or make a late pass to the shut payer curling to the goal. I’ve seen examples of this run in men’s and women’s DI lacrosse at Ohio State and Northwestern, respectively and I’ve run this myself when I was coaching HS girls lacrosse. You will also see on this reel a sick application for Gets vs. a common big-little invert coverage where the short stick doesn’t go behind with his man and plays “Safety” in front of the net. Gets are fun for the players, are incredible for teaching your players 2man game on and off ball, dealing with double teams, and creativity with passing, and can be used to score goals. 🔎✨ Wouter Burger 🇳🇱 People will know how in depth I went about Burger in the summer - and how happy I was to see him in England, I had little doubts that his skill set wouldn’t translate in to a different league. In a season where Stoke have struggled he’s always seemed to put in good to decent performances and I’m really happy he has. He has at times played in a double pivot with Pearson but also played as a box to box and I really like the role because he has attacking attributes that can benefit the offensive side for the team. However he’s a long legged midfielder, can carry the ball, his long strides give him the best chance at getting back at opponents which he does a lot - sometimes mistimes tackles which can definitely be improved because he always seems to be in the right position to make the tackle but sometimes gets it wrong. He can play as the first receiver and can withstand pressure to a high degree, again at times can be rash with his passing but you have to take the teams style into account. I see him playing at the top level very soon, he’s a managers dream, can stick to instructions, still performs in teams that are struggling and doesn’t stop and covers so much ground, with a decent passing range and a good ball striking ability. #potters

Nkanyiso Shinga[LB]✍️🏾 A fullback that is very strong in duels✅️ ■ He is a strong boy physically, very aggressive, and times his tackles well. He is effective in winning possession back, both in 1v1 situations and by making well-timed tackles. He looks heavy, but he has some good acceleration and stamina down the left. He has a high work rate. Something our current technical team will appreciate with his game. ■ He overlaps frequently. He is comfortable in combination plays or providing more width with overlapping runs. It's his crossing I think can get better, but he is still decent. There are some good curlers from that left foot. ■ He can anticipate passing well. He is efficient in closing channels or interceptions to break up opposition attacks. He is a good reader of the game and plays with so much commitment. He creates a lot of attacking opportunities on the left. He is able to get past defenders with some speed and dribbling. Data on his crossing frequency and accuracy is not showing a lot to take home, but it's still within the range of some of our best fullbacks in the league. Also, watching his application gives some confidence that he can consistently deliver quality into the box. He is a technically decent player. A man is getting dinner at a Hibachi restaurant with his family. When the chef cooks their food, he reveals he brought his own tortillas to wrap his food. He throws them on the grill to warm them up. I’ve seen people bring Tupperware to a restaurant and eat out of it. I know that can be frowned upon or even considered tacky, but it’s not violating any real health codes. This man took tortillas out of a bag he packed himself with his bare hands. He then cross contaminated the grill with his own food from home. There’s no telling what germs or bacteria is on them. Who knows if he set them on a counter that had fresh chicken or other meats on it. My opinion may be extreme but I don’t feel this should be allowed as he’s now exposing everyone else at that table to possible contamination. Back in high school when I used to work at a pizza place, we had people with half eaten sandwiches from eating their order in the car asking us to microwave their food again and putting it on the counter. I always told them no because they already ate off of it, it wasn’t sanitary and I wasn’t going to take that risk.

#Cowboys Shavon Revel Jr. was really tested on Thursday night vs the #Lions. I believe he will bounce back — he just needs more reps and more opportunities to play press. As a DB, you’re not going to win every rep in press-man coverage, but it’s necessary to get hands on receivers, feel their releases, and learn their tendencies. That’s how young corners grow. #Cowboys Shavon Revel Jr. was really tested on Thursday night vs the #Lions. I believe he will bounce back — he just needs more reps and more opportunities to play press. De’Zhaun Stribling (Ole Miss WR) has gotten shockingly little draft coverage. • Fluid mover who builds speed quickly and eats up space against off coverage while consistently threatening defenses downfield. • Brings ideal outside size with strong hands and body control, wins at the catch point, and can produce at every level of the field. • Polished route runner — does a great job settling vs. zone and creating separation vs. man, especially on curls, comebacks, and intermediate concepts. • Shows the tools to beat press with footwork and timing, and tracks the ball naturally downfield for explosive plays. There were some questions about his speed and playmaking ability, but he silenced those with a 4.36 40 time and a 9.88 RAS score. A player I could see sneaking into Round 3 when it’s all said and done.

Brayden Burries vs. Kansas 20 points (6/10 FG | 2/4 3pt | 6/6 FT) 12 rebounds 5 assists 1 steal 0 turnovers (I counted 1 turnover but box score says 0) Burries' defense really stood out to me against Kansas. He's a smart team defender with a high level of spacial awareness, consistently stunting and recovering, digging at ball handlers, and in the right spot in rotations. He does a good job staying in front of ball handlers and walling up around rim without fouling. Burries is just a really smart player on both ends. There were several instances of him setting his defender up and waiting until they turned their head or adjusted their position, and he quickly got down hill. I think there's potential for him to be able to attack the rim from a standstill without a screen. He showed a few pocket passes to bigs out of P&R, and I think he's quick and strong enough to turn the corner against most P&R coverages. He has good shooting indicators - 46.3% on 82 non-rim twos (78.9% unassisted rate), 8.1 3pt attempts per 100 possessions, and 83.5% on free throws on 79 attempts in 20 games against top 100 opponents (77.3% overall on 119 attempts for the season). Processing indicators are good too - 2.9 steal% and 2.1 assist to turnover ratio. Anecdotally, he may be the best player on a top 3 team in the country. Burries looks like a big time prospect, and it will be difficult for me to keep him out of my personal top 10. He's a bit of a tweener guard, but I think at worst he's a secondary creator with primary upside. I will be paying close attention to his athro measurements at the combine.

Road rage to the extreme! This Uber driver was trying to take his passengers to their destination when another car cuts in front of him and the driver of that car gets out of the car threatening the Uber driver. He approached the door trying to open it yelling for the Uber driver to get out of his car. The Uber driver and his passengers quickly flee by backing up and turning around but the raging man does not give up and begins to chase them through the neighborhood causing them to run red lights to get away. The female passengers quickly get on the phone with the police and help guide the officers to their location. The police were able to catch the guy as he did try to run once he saw police were involved. Based on the streets and landmarks I believe this is in the Northport (East Northport), Long Island, New York area. Good teamwork and quick thinking helped them escape what could have been a very dangerous situation.

Back in September, I tweeted out asking if Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson was the most slept on QB in this draft class and with a thinned out crop, he's probably going to be a Top 5 QB in this draft class for me when my big board drops. 6’4, 225 lbs., an arm that oozes talent displaying good touch on deep balls and with the ability to layer the ball over second level defenders. He can drive the ball real well with great velocity, make throws off platform and really, can threaten all three levels. I think he doesn’t get enough credit for his pocket presence and overall feel for it plus he’s mobile enough to create out of structure. Robertson does need to be more consistent with his accuracy and I think that starts with him needing to be coached up mechanically because you see the baseball background impact his lower and upper body mechanics at times on tape. But if you’re talking about taking a Day 3 flier on a QB who you can develop and isn’t expected to start immediately, Robertson fits the bill as one of a few intriguing options in this draft. #PhinsUp
