Coffee and tooth decay?

Coffee doesn't inherently cause tooth decay. It's acidic content is actually lesser than orange juice or soft drinks. But most of us will add sugar and that may cause decay, especially if we don't pair it with good oral hygiene habits.

Paradoxically, coffee may have an anticarcinogenic (prevent decay) effect. Source:

I want to start drinking black coffee every morning. Say I haven’t brush my teeth yet, is it correct if I drink coffee, drink a cup of water, wait for 30 mins and then brush my teeth - or, brush my teeth, wait for 30 mins then have my coffee and water?

Both ways are ok bro. Personally, I'll brush my teeth first before having any breakfast. I'll brush another time 20 mins after lunch. The acidity of the coffee isn't so much compared to orange juice etc. But it's a good idea to wait a while after drinking to brush your teeth.
