“Coffee with Kenny” -NASCAR during 911- Where were you ?

I was driving to work in Kansas City. Just left the hospital because my 1-yo son was having tubes put in his ears. Heard it all unfold during my drive. By the time I got to work the second tower had been hit. I’ll never forget it. Some folks have though, and that is beyond sad.

I was getting ready to leave NYC for an IndyCar race in Germany watching tv when the news came out. I remembered this 👇from history. Watched the second plane, live, hit the north tower and knew it was no accident.😡😢

Was loading a box truck to deliver auto parts to 3 stores that my boss owned in Southside Virginia. Remember listening to the radio driving and none of the stations were playing music it was all talking news and updating what happened.

I was at USMC base Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan. In the middle of a typhoon.

We were watching news on a fuzzy TV with rabbit ears at work in Delaware when the second plane hit, we all left

Working in a shop building superchargers. Taking college classes at age 44. Had a noon class, was following on TV there. Teacher came in, turned it off. 'We have more important things to do'. Navy veteran classmate turned it back on. 'We are at war, sir.' It was turned back on.

We knew some on the way to school, I had state testing so our grade didn’t know the seriousness of it. I just remember lunch catching up and being lost. I remember the empty sky was unnerving and the Ky Guard doing a lot of flyovers in our area

It was so unbelievable. I was at work and went home to take my kids to school, turned the TV on and that was about the time the first building fell. Went back to work and it was just an unreal day.

I just had shoulder surgery & was watching TV in the morning when the news broke. It took me 6 hrs to get into NYC from L.I. I stood there helpless. I ended up being sent to Shea Stadium to collect work gear that was barely used. 53 funerals/memorials.

Was working as a journalist for which was owned by AOL Time Warner. (CNN) then Myself and @MartySmithESPN arrived at the Concord office and were sent home. There would be no racing news that day. While at a place watching coverage, both towers fell.

My dad didn’t believe me said quit making it up….mom works for fed gov and was sent home…no planes flying was odd quiet…..first plane ppl thought an accident but 2nd plane everyone knew then the others w brave ppl who kept the plane from the capital….bad year for many reasons

I was on a rooftop in Georgetown (DC) and heard the plane hit the Pentagon. I could see the smoke afterwards, had no clue what was going on till we turned the radio on. I can't imagine what the people near the towers are dealing with, the noise that plane made in DC still haunts.

I was mourning Adam Petty & Kenny Irwin in 2000. Then Dale early 2001. On 9/11 morning, getting ready for work, hearing on the radio about a plane hitting a Tower. Flip on the TV at exact moment Tower 2 was hit. 1st thing I thought, were the people. So yes, we can #NEVERForget 🇺🇸

I was on the tarmac at BWI. Our plane was next in line to takeoff. We then went all-stop. The crew told us nothing and cell service was shut off. By the time we got back to the Gate, Guardsmen with machine guns were all over the airport. Pretty scary.

I woke up 9/11 on the West Coast hearing about a plane hitting WTC. I got up and turned on TV. Thought I was watching a replay, but it was live as second plane hit. Went to work that day like every day after as an essential worker. A nuclear engineer keeping lights on.

Was in Concord working for Hank Jones. His son Don came out and said plane hit building. We went in to watch. I was supposed to fly through BWI on Wednesday. Drove on Thursday listening to news entire way. Got to corner by Laconia airport. Race called. Went back for Thanksgiving.

Kenny I’ve noticed you have went down to 3 days a week. I don’t think you areas good to watch these days. Idk exactly what happened but I think the corporate world came back into your life and it toned you down. I liked it when you were shooting from the hip with your honest opinion.

I was putting cv axles in a Camry at a shop I worked at in Gainesville Ga. We heard the first plane hit over the radio,then watched as the second one hit in real time on the office tv. That was such a tragic day.

I was wondering how long it would take Kenny Wallace to morph into an angry lesbian. I think I now have my answer.

Home with my 2-year-old. He was watching a video. I found out about the planes hitting the tower because of a wrong number phone call.

Later on I was at the Charlotte race. It was the first race that they had fly overs during an event. The start of the race was help to show Pres Bush talking about bombing the Mid East. Everyone in the place started chanting USA and stomping. Very surreal!!

75 miles north Of NYC working on the NYS Thruway

On 9/10 I had a hernia operation. So on 9/11 I was in bed recovering. I watched it on TV like you. It was unbelievable and heartbreaking to see people jumping from those buildings! Many more died from breathing in the dust and debris!

I was building a new Home Depot and after the second plane hit, everyone was going to go home.
