This is a tiny version of Buffett calling BTC rat poison squared. He never bothered himself to understand it so therefore it must suck. The huge difference is Buffett told millions of boomers to stay away from what will prove to be the biggest asset miss in boomer portfolio history. Coffeezilla is a twerp by comparison but gives fuel to those looking for validation of their natural pessimistic bias. 10 years from now, Buffett’s legacy will be remembered for two things. Buying Apple with other people’s money. And denying the Bitcoin opportunity to tens of millions of boomers who take his word as gospel, and by extension, leaving BTC out of their legacy estate for 100 million grandchildren. Great job Warren. 8+ years of taking your faithful down the wrong fork in road.

Warren openly said his worst investments are the ones he didn't make. The 'loss of commission'. There's no doubt his worst investment is not buying Bitcoin.

@Trademark_J Confirmed Ponzi scheme. Saylor is a bozo

public eye 的头像

Michael Saylor is issuing high-dividend preferred stocks to fund purchases in Bitcoin to drive up its price since supply is limited. However, some of the proceeds are used to fund the promised returns. To me, the approach resembles a Ponzi scheme.

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

A real estate company raises capital against its properties and uses it buy new properties. They use some of that capital to pay for operating expenses. What is the difference? A ponzi scheme is the US Treasury buying back $15 Billion of it's own debt in a single day. The money they borrowed was created out of thin air and they bought it back with money that was created out of thin air.

Using the proceeds from new share issues to fulfill commitments to promised high dividends when there are no other proceeds to use. Isn't that what defines a Ponzi scheme?

I don’t believe his argument was that $STRC is a ponzi. His argument was that it should not be advertised to retail as a fixed income/credit product or using terms such as “bank” “ bank account” in its advertising. Since the underlying “product” is preferred equity.

Saylor love euphemisms- the facts speak for themselves

Shitcoin minimalist 的头像
Shitcoin minimalist5 个月前

Normal companies pay dividends from cashflows, Strategy has no cashflow and relies on MSTR holders willing to subsidize it by paying a premium. If they stop doing it, Saylor runs out of options, offcourse it’s in his best interest to pay dividends but if the only option is to sell BTC?

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

You don't seem to understand it at all. Their dividend obligations are currently $731m per year. They have over $2 Billion of cash sat on their balance sheet, so they could literally do nothing for the next 2.5 years and have enough cash to pay their dividend obligations. MSTR holders are not subsidising anything. When they issue STRC, they buy Bitcoin with it. That Bitcoin will increase in time, as it does, they are able to leverage it, issue new shares, buy Bitcoin and continue to build their USD reserve. To say they don't create cashflow as an operating business is also factually incorrect. MicroStrategy (their BI software business) generated $477 million of revenue with $328m gross profit in the latest financial year.

Shitcoin minimalist 的头像
Shitcoin minimalist5 个月前

Dividend liabilities are 1.2b yearly and growing fast. Their operating business has a neglible free cash flow (<10m). MSTR holders are subsidising the dividend payments, that cash pile of $2b got their by selling MSTR at a premium. He needs to pay >1.2b yearly forever.

David Lawrence 的头像

As I said "You don't seem to understand it at all."

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

Yes, they were able to raise that amount in a DAY. What's your point?

Shitcoin minimalist 的头像
Shitcoin minimalist5 个月前

You blame me for not understanding it, but you are the one with the wrong numbers.

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

That total is across all of their preferred stocks, not just STRC, which is what we're talking about in this post. But even if their obligations are $1.2B ANNUALLY across ALL of their preferreds, they raised $1.2 Billion on Tuesday and $865 million on Monday. Their ability to pay their dividend obligations is a non-topic because every time they sell STRC, they buy Bitcoin with the proceeds. This builds the moat and allows them to sell MSTR against that Bitcoin to buy more Bitcoin, which then allows them to sell mor STRC etc. Even if Bitcoin goes up just 2% a year, they will be able to pay their dividend obligations forever.

NeyLong 的头像
NeyLong5 个月前

Question: where does that cash come from? Not from Bitcoin it sits frozen on the balance sheet. Not from operations Strategy barely has any. Answer from NEXT round of STRC issuance. New investor money pays old investor dividends. That's the functional definition of a Ponzi

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

Are you asking a question or giving me an incorrect answer to demonstrate your lack of understanding?

NeyLong 的头像
NeyLong5 个月前

Happy to be corrected. So tell me specifically: where does the cash to pay STRC dividends come from, if not from new capital raises? Not paper BTC gains. Actual cash.

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

Where does the cash to pay $STRC dividends come from? It comes from the Bitcoin appreciation over time. Why does it offend you if they raise more capital from the appreciation of Bitcoin? McDonalds literally buy land, build a restaurant, borrow against that property to buy more land, to build a new restaurant, then borrow more against that property to buy a new restaurant etc. Their revenues from the food side is dwarfed by their balance sheet which is real estate. Only 1% of their $59 Billion balance sheet is cash. Strategy is no different, but just on the digital finance side. They buy an asset, they borrow against it, they buy the asset, they borrow against it. When they issue STRC, they buy Bitcoin, it rises 20%, they borrow against it and pay the 11.5% dividend. Their balance sheet has increased by 8.5% each year it does that. I don't understand how people are so offended by such a simple concept that happens in every business industry in the world.

NeyLong 的头像
NeyLong5 个月前

The McDonald's analogy breaks down at one critical point: McDonald's services its debt with operating cash flow — billions in food sales every year. The real estate is the collateral. The burgers are the engine. Strategy has no burgers.

NeyLong 的头像
NeyLong5 个月前

You literally said it yourself: "BTC rises 20%, they borrow against it to pay the 11.5%" That means new debt/capital pays existing yield obligations. The collateral is real. The cash flow isn't.

NeyLong 的头像
NeyLong5 个月前

And borrowing new capital to pay existing investors has a name — regardless of whether the asset backing it exists.

David Lawrence 的头像
David Lawrence5 个月前

So you don't have a mortgage on your home? You've never drawn down equity in your home to do renovations in your garden? Is that a ponzi becasue you're paying a landscaper with new capital from the property? Think clearer mate.

There is a very small action in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that I find increasingly unsettling the more closely I look at it: when Saruman reveals the Palantír, Gandalf immediately pulls the cloth back over it. One man wants to look. The other wants to cover up the very thing that allows him to see more. Why? If the Palantír is a tool that allows someone to see across great distances, shouldn't a wise person want to know as much as possible? And yet this scene suggests a paradox: sometimes the danger does not lie in knowing too little, but in becoming too convinced that what we know is enough to draw a conclusion. Saruman is the clearest example of this. When he shows the Palantír to Gandalf, Saruman says: “I have seen it.” The sentence sounds like a declaration of knowledge. I have seen it. I know what is happening. I understand Sauron’s power. But that is precisely the problem: seeing one thing is not the same as seeing the whole truth. The Palantír gives Saruman a wider field of vision, but a wider field of vision does not necessarily mean a complete perspective. Saruman can see Sauron’s rising power, the scale of the threat, and things an ordinary person could never see. But he cannot see everything that will ultimately determine the outcome of the war. He does not see Frodo. He does not know how far a small Hobbit can go. He does not know how loyalty, friendship, sacrifice, and seemingly insignificant choices will shape the course of history. In other words, Saruman has more information, but that does not mean he possesses the whole truth. And this is where the Palantír becomes such an interesting image of the trap of knowledge. Because information does not draw conclusions by itself. Human beings do. Saruman sees that Sauron is powerful. From that, he reasons that Sauron will win. Then, from “will win,” he arrives at “cannot be resisted.” And finally: “We must join with him.” Notice the word “must.” Saruman does not say, “I want to stand with Sauron.” He says, “We must.” A personal choice is transformed into an inevitability imposed by reality itself. That is Saruman’s real tragedy. He does not need to stop thinking in order to become corrupted. On the contrary, he continues to reason. He continues to analyze. He continues to speak in the language of rationality. He even calls his choice wisdom: “It would be wise, my friend.” And this is where intelligence begins to become a trap. Saruman has constructed a chain of reasoning in which every path leads to the same conclusion: Sauron is too powerful, therefore resisting him is futile; if resistance is futile, then cooperation is the practical choice; and if that is the practical choice, then surrender can be called wisdom. He is no longer using reason to search for the truth. He is using reason to protect a conclusion he has already accepted. That is a particularly dangerous form of self-justification: when a person begins to call what they fear something they “must” do, and then calls their surrender “reason.” And this is why Gandalf’s reaction to the Palantír is so significant. He does not argue with Saruman that knowledge is bad. He simply says: “A Palantír is a dangerous tool.” Then he covers it. Gandalf understands something Saruman has forgotten: being wise does not mean always wanting to see more. It means knowing the limits of your own understanding. There are things we need to know. But there are also things we need to recognize that we cannot fully control in the way they affect us. Gandalf does not cover the Palantír because he is afraid of the truth. He covers it because he understands that not everything we can see should be looked at in whatever way we choose. Especially because Gandalf also says: “We do not know who else may be watching.” That line completely changes the meaning of the orb. The Palantír is not merely a window through which we can look out at the world. It is also a window through which someone else can look back at us. Saruman thinks he is using the tool to observe Sauron. But eventually, Saruman himself becomes trapped in a relationship he no longer controls. This is the paradox of power: we think we are holding the tool, until we realize that the tool has begun to shape the way we see the world. And from here, the two Wizards stand before the same problem but respond to it in completely different ways. Saruman looks at Sauron’s power and concludes: We cannot win. Gandalf looks at the same thing but refuses to accept that conclusion. Not because Gandalf knows for certain that they will win. But because he understands that no one has the right to turn a possibility into a destiny simply because they cannot yet see a way out. That is why Gandalf’s question cuts so deeply: “When did Saruman the Wise abandon reason for madness?” Gandalf does not ask: “When did you become evil?” He asks: “When did Saruman the Wise abandon reason?” Because Saruman’s fall begins with the very thing that once made him powerful: his intelligence. Intelligence itself is not the problem. The problem begins at the moment a person believes their intelligence has become great enough that they no longer need to question themselves. And perhaps that is what makes the Palantír such an intriguing symbol. It is an orb designed to see far into the distance. Yet the farther Saruman sees, the narrower his world becomes. He sees Sauron and no longer sees the possibility of resisting Sauron. He sees power and no longer sees courage. He sees war and no longer sees the small people who might change its outcome. Gandalf, meanwhile, sees less, but leaves room for more possibilities. And perhaps this is the deepest difference between the two. Saruman wants a complete view of the world so that he can be certain about the future. Gandalf accepts that the future cannot be seen in its entirety. One seeks certainty. The other accepts the limits of knowledge. And in Tolkien’s world, it is the second person who remains free. Because sometimes the most dangerous thing is not that we do not know enough. It is that we know a little, reason a great deal, and then begin to believe that our conclusion is the whole truth. Saruman is not defeated by the Palantír simply because he looks into it. He is defeated by what happens afterward: he allows what he sees to become the limit of what he can imagine. And Gandalf, through an action so small that it could almost be overlooked, simply pulls the cloth back over the Palantír. As if reminding us: Wisdom does not always mean seeing more. Sometimes wisdom means recognizing that the very way we see can deceive us.

He's right. And I don't mean that sarcastically, or cruelly, or unkindly. Men, that is your purpose, perhaps above all others. It is the very definition of masculinity. It is to give, always, more than you receive. It is not fair. It is not just. But it is the truth. Importantly, just like Batman, you are under no requirement to save everyone. You should be VERY discerning in this regard... But think carefully about every man you think highly of. All of them, every single last one, in stark terms produces more than he consumes. That is what it is to *be* a man. "But what if I need help?" Then you should seek it. And you should understand that the cloudy voice in your head telling you it would be better to self destruct is an animalistic thing, slamming its hand down on the dopamine button, pumping your head full of fantasies of glorious self sacrifice because it feels good in a moment when you're suffering most. Get it? That's why you're fantasizing about it. Because it feels good, in your moments of most terrible suffering, to see yourself as a hero. The very embodiment of self sacrificing masculinity. It counteracts the pain. It's self medication, it keeps you going. And so you slam down that fantasy button as things get worse and worse and worse... until it's not enough, until the fantasy could not only never be enough, but in order to survive the fantasy simply must start to translating into action. And thus it feels good again. Because now there's hope. There's a goal. The fantasy of being a self sacrificial hero is finally being backed up by action, evidence. "I will die usefully." And the conclusion of all of this is exactly what you expect it would be. Don't let it be.

Your faith was forged in people who would rather be exterminated than assimilated. A soft version of it, eager to be liked and desperate to fit in, is not the thing they died to hand you. So stop striving to be liked. Stop angling to be loved by a world that drove your fathers into the snow. That world would think no better of the gospel today than it did in 1838. Stop trying to file down every peculiar and glorious edge of the Restoration until the world finally finds you acceptable. It never will. And the wanting of its approval is the slow death of everything your people bled to preserve. I am thinking of the proclamation on the family, and of how many have quietly gone looking for a way around it. Some say it aloud now. Some march under the world's Pride banners and tell themselves it is only love. They have done the quiet arithmetic and concluded that if they give the world this one doctrine, the world will finally stop hating them, finally let them belong, finally call them good. It does not work that way. It has never once worked that way. Understand what the world actually hates, because it is not a single teaching about marriage that it cannot abide. It is the claim. It is the unbearable, scandalous claim that the keys of the priesthood were restored to the earth, that there is a prophet who speaks for God, that this and no other is the authorized house of the Lord. That is the offense. That is what it cannot forgive. You could surrender every doctrine the world finds distasteful, one after another, and you would not buy a single hour of peace, because the thing it objects to is not your position on this or that. It is that you claim to hold the authority of heaven, and it intends to see that claim humbled. The doctrine is only the doorway it is pushing on. The house is what it wants. Embrace the truth. Embrace the battle that has always come with it, because there has always been a battle, and there is one now. It is the oldest war there is, good against evil, light against the dark, and you were born onto its field whether you wished to be or not. You did not inherit a museum. You inherited a war, and a banner, and a people who never once surrendered it. You are a Mormon. The blood of the persecuted is in you, and the truth they died for is in your hands. You are not tourists. You are not spectators. You are the heirs of warriors, and the line they held is now yours to hold. So plant your feet on the ground they bled for. Lift the banner they would not drop.

Do you think that by the folly of man, the glory of God can be diminished? . I tell you, no kingdom of this earth, no rebellion of heart, no blasphemy of tongue can ever tarnish the majesty of the Almighty. His glory is not made by the hands of men, nor is it undone by their defiance. . Consider the arrogance of those who refuse to kneel, who claim that their disbelief can unmake the Creator. They are like madmen in a darkened cell, scratching the word ‘darkness’ upon the walls as though, by their crude mark, they could blot out the sun. But tell me, does the sun diminish because it is unseen by the blind? Does its light falter because a lunatic curses its name? No, my friend. The sun remains, burning with relentless brilliance, giving life to all who dwell beneath it, whether they acknowledge it or not. . So it is with God. His glory is eternal, unshaken by the denial of men. He is the architect of the heavens, the One who breathed life into dust and set the stars upon their courses. His majesty does not depend on our worship, yet it is we who are diminished when we turn away. For in refusing to see His light, we do not extinguish it—we only cast ourselves into the shadow of our own making. . Know that to deny God is not an act of power but of despair. It is the rejection of hope, the refusal to see the beauty written into the very fabric of existence. A man who scribbles darkness upon the walls of his soul does not conquer the light, he only blinds himself to it. Yet even in his rebellion, God’s glory shines undimmed. For the sun does not cease to rise because a man refuses to look upon it. And God does not cease to reign because His children wander from His embrace. . If you ever find yourself in doubt, remember this: the defiance of man is but a whisper against the roar of eternity. The glory of God is as unyielding as the mountains and as boundless as the sea. It is woven into the sunrise, the turning of the seasons, the song of creation itself. You cannot destroy it. You cannot unmake it. You can only choose whether to bask in its light or to linger in the shadows. . Take heart, then and do not be swayed by the noise of those who mock the divine. For their words are as fleeting as the wind but the glory of God is eternal. Acknowledge Him not because He needs your praise but because your soul needs His light. Worship Him not as a favor to the Almighty but as a declaration that you see, that you understand, that you are humbled by the grandeur of the One who crafted all that is and all that ever will be. . God’s glory is not diminished by denial, nor is it amplified by praise. But you, my friend—you are elevated when you bow before the Eternal. You are strengthened when you trust in the One who holds the stars in place. And you are transformed when you abandon the shadows of pride and step into the radiance of His truth. . Remember this always: the lunatic may scrawl his defiance but he cannot extinguish the light. The doubter may deny the sun but he cannot halt its rise. And the world may rage against the King of Kings but it cannot dethrone Him. Stand firm, therefore, as one who walks in the light of God. Let your life be a testimony that His glory endures forever, unshaken, unyielding and undeniable. . For in the end, my friend, it is not God who is diminished by our defiance. It is we. And it is not the sun that falters when we turn away—it is the world that grows colder in its absence. #ChristIsKing #WeAreTheStorm

There was a parent who lost a child to the needle. Not lost to death, which at least lets you grieve and one day stop. Lost to the street. To the years of disappearing, the phone that stops being answered, the front door left unlocked every single night for a decade on the chance the child might finally come through it. And the parent never stopped. Did not move on. Did not decide the child was too far gone. Drove to the worst parts of town to scan the faces under the overpass. Searched for years, going gray with it, burying the hope a hundred times and digging it back up every morning, because a parent does not get to stop loving a child just because the child is lost. And then came the day it finally happened. The child, hollowed out, certain they were beyond all loving, looked up, and there was the parent's face. And neither of them could speak. They just held on, and they wept, the kind of weeping that has years of grief and years of longing pouring out of it at once, the child sobbing the only word they could find, sorry, sorry, and the parent saying the only word that mattered, which was not "where have you been" and not "do you know what you did to me," but only, over and over into their hair, you're home, you're home, you're home. Now understand. That is not just a real story about a parent and a child. That is God, and that is humanity. No one is forgotten by the Father. He did not fold His arms and wait at home for you to crawl back and prove you were worth it. The moment you were lost, He came after you. And the cost He paid to reach the very bottom of your pit was not patience, and it was not effort. It was His Son, sent down below all of it, so there would be no depth where His face was not already waiting for you to find it. So hear this, wherever it finds you. You were never forgotten, not for one second, not in the worst of it. The door has been unlocked every night since the day you left. He is still driving the worst parts of town. He is still scanning the faces under the overpass. He is still weeping over the ones who are certain they have fallen too far to ever come back. And the moment you turn around, you will not hear "where have you been." You will only hear, said over and over into your hair, the one thing that has been true since before the foundation of the world: you're home, you're home, you're home. Stop running. Come home.
