@missmayim We‘re not Jewish, but universities that didn’t react on violence and hate speech in an adequate way are not an option for us as parents anymore. (Bye bye @Columbia!) I hope, that all students care for safety on campus, whenever the schools fail. Turn this idea into a movement.

Beyond horrifying: ‘Tulane for #Palestine’, a group not registered with the university but made up of Tulane students, held a pro-#Hamas rally off campus. Jewish and Israeli students, as well as their allies, peacefully held #Israeli flags across the road, and were viciously attacked and beat up by a group of pro-Hamas demonstrators. A pro-Hamas student was going to burn the Israeli flag when a Jewish student decided to take the flag away. As a crowd of Hamas supporting students rushed towards the Jewish student, security in the area went to break it up, but not before a pro-Hamas protester hit a student in the head with a pole, resulting in the hospitalization of the Jewish student. Since the event wasn’t on campus, however, Tulane did not intervene. This is what college students are experiencing on and off campus around the country. Now, more than ever, administrations must stand by their Jewish students.

The latest EQAO results show that more action is needed to support our students and help them succeed. In too many cases, dysfunction and infighting among trustees have distracted boards from this core responsibility. My message to antisemitic jihadists: We are not afraid. We are united against your hatred. Kiva’s Bagel bakery was attacked by antisemitic terrorists in Toronto. Today I had a tasty bagel there to show my support. They were so welcoming, and Canadians showed up to support this small business. Just one day after the terrorist attack, it was more crowded than ever. Unfortunately, the Canadian government has failed to keep the people safe against terrorism. I have lost count of how many times Jewish businesses have been attacked by antisemitic terrorists in Toronto. How many times have we heard the empty words from Canadian politicians that “There is no room for hatred in Canada”? We should hold all levels of government responsible. Mark Carney, Doug Ford, Olivia Chow, Myron Demkiw, Michael Kerzner, Doug Downey—you are all responsible. Terrorist attacks on Jews are not just a matter for the Jewish community. This is a matter for all Canadians. We should have learned our lesson from history: the Jews are the first, and we are the next. Stand on guard for Canada!
