My older sister has light skin and she is OBSESSED with keeping her skin light. We get into heated conversations about it bc it feels like she thinks she is better because her skin is lighter. She even dedicated a book to her grandchildren and noted..”he has light skin”

The Indian caste system dates c. 1500 BCE, when lighter-skinned Vedic people invaded the subcontinent and saw themselves as "arya" [noble] compared to the darker-skinned Dravidic people of the southern subcontinent. While we can blame colonialism for much, this is indigenous.

You can’t claim to be a Christian and call someone out for their skin color. God says we are all made in His image.

This is so stupid. She is literally gorgeous

And what’s crazy is the Indian dudes saying this to them have dark skin! Like what even… Colonialism and toxic masculinity is… ick.

Skin bleaching in Africa and Asia is a thing. Black skin to some is seen as a curse or blight upon a family in certain cultures. Black folks are universally hated across this planet and it is bc of colonialism. I love my brown skin and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I’m a photographer and I’ve had a number of Indian clients for various headshots and dating profile pics. Not all, but a good portion requested for me to lighten their skin in photoshop. One even said he wasn’t that dark from an image I showed him in camera.

They are so beautiful! It’s crazy that people can just see skin color and think negative thoughts like that.

The British have so much blud on their hands

My partner is Indian and she hates getting tan because her dumb grandmas and crap made her think that way. Even though she actively knows that, she still doesn’t like getting tan.
