Tested this concepting workflow. ▶️ Converting a level design image to a 3D asset gallery image ▶️ re-generating segmented subjects into separate high quality images. ▶️ using these images to generate the 3D meshes. First time using 'for loops' in ComfyUI, works great and the prompts are updated for every segment. I used the Nano Banana 2 API node in ComfyUI to generate the final high quality images. Those SAM3 nodes are crazy btw, just set some points and it creates a mask! For the 3D model generation I used the new Tripo Smart Mesh tool, which is fast! The output is not perfect yet. I think in a lot of cases not production ready right now but that depends on the input image and the goal as well. For pre-production / concepting phase it's perfect and for far distance meshes it’s fine. I’m sure these tools keep improving, curious what we can work with in 3-6 months. Minimal cleanup and scaling in Blender and tested the meshes in UEFN / Unreal Engine. After creating the ComfyUI workflow it took less than an hour to do everything.

Do we need to build a Photoshop-like image rotation feature in ComfyUI? Tried to recreate PS’s image rotation feature inside ComfyUI. The tech itself isn’t anything special — it uses Qwen multi-angle, runs 32 angle variations of the image, then throws them onto a simple Canvas. The result obviously can’t compete with PS. Theirs clearly uses some kind of 3D technique under the hood. On top of that, a single run on my local 5090 takes 320 seconds — which is nowhere near an acceptable turnaround time. Just playing around with it for now. We’ll see if we can improve it later by switching to a 3D-based approach.

Prototyped another iteration of a hand-tracking-based BoxelXR toolbar. This time, it's a circular menu spawned in front of a user once the index pinch is triggered. Notes: 1) It works great with four elements, but it's hard to scale for a higher number; 2) The selection interaction is forgiving for spatial positioning errors. This is because a 3D hand span is interpreted through a 1D angle range (a 1D subspace in the polar coordinate system of 2D projection space, which is a subspace of the 3D space of the experience, respectively). This prevents false positives and makes it easy for users to execute. Precise muscle coordination is not required, either. Design tip: Lower the dimensionality of your interaction to reduce cognitive loads and make it more accessible. 3) Using depth-based animations to show different UI states is a great way to leverage the third dimension and add something interesting to the experience. But be careful. When the UI faces a user's face, the contrast in the motion might be low, so use it only as an additional layer. working theory for a new vibe code workflow: 1. create a proof of concept in v0 2. move to github and clone in a local repo 3. use as ref for agent planning 4. create a backend directory to test API plumbing 5. create a frontend directory to prototype iteratively this way you can repeatedly rip apart the frontend for ideation without worrying about breaking changes to the backend. i really like asking for an open ended "job to be done" (i.e. place a bet with a single tap) with 5-10 variations to feel. it's the modern day wireframing. it's still UI slop but i can get ideas in my head out faster and reveal design shortcomings before polishing or worrying about making components functional. and because the v0 prototype gets you to functional ai features and backend integration fastest, you have both a technical and conceptual reference to use in your agentic planning so your v1 is more predictable with minimal effort.
