Coded almost entirely in assembly, the coders brought their 8-bit mindset from ZX Spectrum and NES era to optimize the game. E.g. managing to compress massive 3D-rendered graphics onto a 32-megabit cartridge. The core movement and physics were designed with high efficiency, which was a hallmark of 8-bit coding.

Game Science is playing with fire, and they know it. After selling over 25 million copies of Wukong, they could've played it safe. Instead, they walked away from the Monkey King to build a game around Zhong Kui - the ghost-hunting folk deity. That choice alone says everything about their creative hunger. Also I am very excited for this game and to see its gameplay, especially the combat and abilities.
