Command & Conquer: Red Alert, running natively on iPad and iOS. Not an emulator. RAtouch is built on TheAssemblyArmada’s Vanilla Conquer, a project that preserves Red Alert’s original simulation. Tap selects and orders. One-finger drag box-selects. Two fingers move the map. Hold brings back the original right-click. Pinch zooms...

The full build-and-run guide, source, and IPA are on GitHub: RAtouch does not include Red Alert game data. Bring your own legally acquired files, import them from Files on your iPad, and play. Nothing is bundled or downloaded by the app. Your game files, saves, and settings stay local.

The build: one goal-based 5.6 Sol run, after research, did the bulk of the iPad integration. I spent the rest of it driving the game on actual iPad hardware and iterating on what felt wrong. The engine is not mine. RAtouch is built on TheAssemblyArmada’s Vanilla Conquer, which preserves the original Red Alert simulation. My work was the native iPad app around it: ARM64 build integration, Files import, local storage, lifecycle/autosave, audio, input geometry, and the touch layer. None of this exists without Vanilla Conquer and its contributors. I put it on an iPad and made it feel like an iPad game. Pull it down and play!

ok now THIS is a gem. An age of empires 2 port would also be MAGIC.

unfortunately openage is not in a state (for now) where AoE is possible. I haven't even attempted it because of how unlikely success is there. I would love to have AoE working, since that's the game everyone wants (myself included)

Android port in future?

I'd love to. An android phone is my daily driver. The larger screen of the iPad makes Red Alert a lot more playable. A smaller screen makes touch imprecise, although I could see a Samsung with a pen more doable.

Do the save game features work well with this?

I have briefly tested the save game features. I didn't notice any issues, but I'd love for people to try this out on their devices and submit issues or requests so we can make it perfect.

I’ll need to dig out my old copy of the game so I can do that 😄 I’ve been itching to replay this for a while now haha! Might I make a suggestion for another game for your queue? 👀

Dungeon Keeper. I genuinely feel this would play so well on a touch screen!

Also: I’ve been using DeepSeek-V4-Flash in Codex to save on costs while doing this, which is a wild 5 dollar/mo sub. I just learned about it and it has changed how I use Codex. If you want to try OpenCode Go with this referral, you get $5 in usage credit and I get $5 too. Win-win. More inference to port more games.

I love the Thor but idk how well this game would work with those smaller screens
