Commanders flagged for roughing the passer for throwing Mahomes down
34 条评论

Soft but the ref blew the whistle and he kept going anyway, no one to blame but himself

Undisciplined play for sure

@ChiefsEver2 I mean the ref had blown the whistle 5 times by then

Smart to not use the real time clip where you can hear the whistle and see that mahomes had given himself up several yards prior to the slam...fishing for this textbook call to look like something more than it is

This is a penalty at every level from Middle school to the NFL.

Pretty easy to just not throw him down 2 seconds after the whistle goes off, lame play by Newton there ngl

It IS roughing the passer. What's wrong with you!?

threw him down 2 years after the whistle was blown

Call couldn't be more correct yet people are going to call it "soft" or make it about Mahomes when he gets a very average number of RTP / UR calls (check the stats on who does get those calls to see who the league's REAL golden boy is...)

Ref blows the whistle at the 6 or 7, Newton drove him to the 1 and still threw him in the end zone. One of the most obvious RTPs in memory.

Not only did the ref blow the whistle a couple of times already, the head ref was actively trying to stop them from continuing, then Newton spin/momentum threw Mahomes down at the feet of the head ref. Looks textbook roughing to me.

Softest shit ever "When it comes to QBs, especially this one, they're gonna protect him" - the announcers Lmfao, @NFL becoming unwatchable

This is a good call and the games over shut up lmao

Play was whistled dead 5 yards before he "threw him down". You have to stop at the whistle. They were going to let driving the QB back 9 yards go until he dumped him in the end zone. Any QB in the league gets that flag thrown dor them. Just a very dumb play by DE.

Josh Allen would have flopped into the stands on this one. 😂

They were blowing the whistle for 5 minutes. 55 even saw it coming and tried to grab him so he wouldn’t throw him down.

Flag 100/100 times regardless who’s playing QB. Keep trying to cling to a false narrative tho 😂

95% of @NFL QBs, no penalty. Mahomes: throw that flag.

Textbook roughing. Anyone that says otherwise is just a hater .

you have to be an idiot to throw a QB down like that, in this day and age. Any QB, this gets called.

That's getting a flag every time - Mahomes or not.

Just put flags and belts on them at this point. It’s not even football anymore.

Did you forget, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs!! They aren’t allowed to have flags in their favor, otherwise it’s considered cheating. Only 31 other teams are allowed to have flags thrown in their favor regardless of whether it’s deserved or not.

All things considered, our defense played really well ln but we shot ourselves in the foot with plays like this & not being able to execute on O. Our roster is riddled with injuries, most notably JD5 & most of the starting D, but we got fight and won’t fold in it early #RaiseHail

It’s literally the right call and it’s unnecessary roughness not roughing the passer there’s a pretty key difference. If the whistle wasn’t blown then it would’ve been a clean hit. Rough the passer is a dirty hit while the play is life

His own teammate knew he was going to get flagged.

You're being misleading by getting the penalty wrong. This would be called unnecessary roughness in much of football history because it was after the play

50/50 call but honestly wouldn’t changed the outcome of the game so people shouldn’t get mad at this

Yup. They are trying to stop the continued play toss to the ground after the whistle Just stop doing stupid shit

Soft, but so is the NFL these days. Also, he clearly gave himself up and the whistle blew. Defender has to know that was coming. I just don’t think he cared. Game was over at that point.

Clearly roughing. C'mon

Obviously they could have hurt him. That cannot be allowed. His mother may be watching

“He’s giving him the business”

If you’re to get a flag earn it…toss him down with force. Don’t let Mahomes sell the call anymore than he already does
