2015 saw an enhanced hack of the game released that had all 8 levels from the arcade as well as some graphical tweaks:

I remember playing this, but only just clocked it as the spiritual ancestor of Cannon Fodder.

I think I had the Spectrum 128k version. Loved it. A lot of time lost on this. Thanks for the memory 👍🏻

Says it all that rough around the edges & cuts made BITD to fit the classic track,that the modern day hackers kept the template & somehow fitted it all in with extra touches (with multiload help,totally fine when justified!).👍

I just started finding out about this game cuz I got a my arcade player with Heavy Barrel. This looks so similar, it’s awesome! Data East did some great stuff back in the day!

So good on the 64, I spent a lot of time playing this version of Commando, still my favourite.

Great scrolling gameplay! Watch out for those grenades following you from off screen! Loved the soundtrack. 3 voices was always going to give good sound. My fave was Human Race (epic music, poor game) or the Spy Vs Spy themes. 😉

A belter - hard until I cheated with this red cartridge thing I had - was it called an action replay?

Played this mostly for the soundtrack as a kid. It took me 20+ years to realize that the game was based on a bad movie ;-)

Now we’re talking! The end credit music was sublime
