I’m going to explain pelvic plane rotation in the pitching delivery in 60 seconds or less so you can stop throwing time. Pelvic plane rotation is something I was introduced to by Albertus Barber, my cofounder at ThePitcherLab. Basically, it’s about matching how your pelvis rotates to the mound. The mound is on a downward slope. Because of that, we want our pelvis to rotate downward as well. A big mistake I see a lot of pitchers make is that their pelvis doesn’t match the downward plane. Instead, they rotate upward. That usually happens because of things like pushing too much with the back leg. When you rotate upward, you don’t get as much energy into the front leg. That makes it harder to transfer energy into the throw. What we want is for the pelvis to rotate downward into foot plant. That’s how you get the most energy into the throw.
