Truckers used to abide by this but they no longer do. I see them just sitting in the left lane all the time. Definitely pisses me off.

And if you aren't entering the highway on an entrance ramp you should know you do NOT have the right of way. The people already established on the highway have the tight of way. You must find a spot to merge with them.

Playing devils advocate with this, but what if truck drivers could drive the same speed as the truck in front of them instead of passing each other at .005 mph faster than the truck being passed. Some of these passing maneuvers can take literal minutes to complete. Let me ask this question (even though I suspect I know the answer), do truckers get joy from clogging the roadways with their slow motion passing? LoL, jk. My family has many truckers and they are the lifeblood of our country. Hope all of you are safe on the roads this holiday season.

Most states have an un enforced law; “Drive right, Pass left.”

@TeaPtyTerrorist No longer do truckers know the rule… I have 4-5 lanes one direction-and I see a lot of trucks at or below the speed limit in the left-most lane( out of 4-5 lanes) maybe generational or something else 🤷‍♂️.

So the left lane is for breaking the law and speeding? If ALL the traffic in the right lane is traveling at the posted speed limit then there should be NO ONE in the left lane. Correct?

We've a 13 mile stretch of hwy, Goose Creek to Moncks Corner posted for 60 mph. That entire stretch of ass-fault regularly has somebody doing 50-55 in the outside lane & you're stuck because the inside lane are doing the same bloody friggin speed. Just murders my sensitivities.

Interesting, expecting laws to be enforced to make it easier for laws to be broken. Only on planet earth does that logic make sense to a majority of supposedly intelligent beings.

Same for slowing down in the passing lane to let me in. Just pass I will get in behind you. Most cases. Really read the room for the moment you are in, but it doesn't do any good if we're both slowing down to 45 on the INTERSTATE because I want to enter the passing lane.

Truckers used to know the code Then we imported truckers that dont have any code at all How many times on the Hwy, 2 and 3 lanes fully blocked by semis passing eachother, unable to drive a small climb without losing half its power apparently, all going 20+ kms below speed limit.

If anyone has to use their brakes or slow down because of your actions on the road you're f****** up. Do not impede traffic! It's the Golden Rule. Wake up!

This is true. It really sucks when on a 3 lane the right lane becomes the passing lane, too.

Legally, there is no justification for speeding to pass. As important as lane discipline is, it doesn’t work when there is rampant speeding.

Pretty sure this is not just etiquette, but the actual law in some states, too. It’s just not really enforced that frequently (for some unknown reason, because it would probably stop eventually).

Good truckers do. I agree with your road etiquette. Unfortunately not only are many passenger vehicle drivers ignorant, too many truck drivers today are equally clueless.
